Debuts:
Lewis Capaldi is back on the countdown since Strangers early last year with Survive. I can't stand Lewis Capaldi. The production here is actually decent and a lot more upbeat than his usual songs. But Lewis sounds so bad here. He's oversinging way too much in the chorus, and he's in full pencil sharpener mode. Let's hope this song doesn't get too annoying, but it probably will.
We really did not need a collab between the two most overrated artists right now. Alex Warren and ROSÉ have collabed on On My Mind. They both sound great here, but the production is just too boring and generic.
Countdown Extra: Lizzo/SZA - IRL
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Jonas Brothers - No Time To Talk [+12]
Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Charli XCX - party 4 u [-5]
Last year's #1 song: Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (3/6 weeks at #1)
Favorite song last year: Crash Adams - Hotel Party
Least favorite song last year: Gracie Abrams/Taylor Swift - us.
Most missed song: Clinton Kane - GO TO HELL (2021)
Recommendation for Hits 1: Laufey - Lover Girl
5 Oldest Songs

Hitbound
All Time Low - SUCKERPUNCH [4]
KATSEYE - Gameboy [2]
Jessie Murph - Touch Me Like a Gangster [5]
People R Ugly - BETTER [Debut]
Benson Boone - Mr Electric Blue [3]
Kehlani - Folded [2] [Reentry]
Kesha - THE ONE [2]
PinkPantheress - Illegal [Debut]
Twenty One Pilots - The Contract [4]

KPop Demon Hunters Cast - Golden [2]

Reneé Rapp - Mad [2]
Lorde - Shapeshifter [2]
SUPER-Hi/NEEKA - Following The Sun [5]
Folded reentered. I would have been fine if this song just died, but okay then.
We have more People R Ugly because Hits 1 has to pick up on every one of their songs. BETTER is a really fun song. This sounds like a sequel to Brain Dead because they use that same weird bass sound from that song.
PinkPantheress is back for her yearly hitbound dropout with Illegal. This is pretty fun, but feels very forgettable.
Exits:
- Mariah The Scientist - Burning Blue [3]
Burning Blue finds itself in the abyss.
2025 total dropouts: 99
Estimated total for 2025: 172 (-4)
Abyss
Mariah The Scientist - Burning Blue [1]
Ed Sheeran/Arijit Singh - Sapphire [1]
Ed Sheeran - Drive [2]
Tate McRae - Revolving door [2]
Avril Lavigne/Simple Plan - Young & Dumb [3]
Damiano David - The First Time [6]
Shinedown - Three Six Five [8]

Billie Eilish - WILDFLOWER [9]
Justice/Tame Impala - Neverender [15]
Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us [18]
Lady Gaga - Disease [22]
Harry Styles - Daylight [163]
Why is Mr. Predictable back in the abyss? No one asked for this.
Mariah The Blurbentist:
We lost Not At This Party and What Was That. Not At This Party was a fun song but is was very forgettable and I don't think it deserved to reenter in the first place. What Was That was an amazing song but it had barely any airplay its entire countdown run and I forgot sometimes it was even still on the countdown.
Congrats on NOKIA for spending its 3rd month rotting in the bottom 5 of the countdown!
Nice to see No Time To Talk getting a huge jump.
#14 - #6 didn't change spots at all.
Love Me To Heaven is a great song, but I don't think it needs to be all the way in the top 3.
Let's go! Nice to see Sally, When The Wine Runs Out finally reach #1. For a second it looked like Sabrina would block him from #1, but he finally overthrew her. Let's see how much longer this can stay #1.
That's all for now, see you all next week!

Hi Ethan, The Pulse is doing a top 50 Pulse 4th Of July songs of all time (or at least 2010s- now)
ReplyDeleteCan I share it with you? I want to hear your thoughts on how whack the list is!
Only two songs in the #16 - #4 range made ANY movement whatsoever
ReplyDeleteI’m surprised What Was That lasted as long as it did.
