Debuts:

Noah Kahan returns to the countdown after 2 years with The Great Divide. This is a lot more upbeat than the snoozefest Stick Season, but this is still extremely forgettable.

Nick Jonas makes his solo return to the countdown after 9 years with Gut Punch after 2017's Find You. What's with all the forgettable songs debuting the countdown? The production is super generic, and Nick is barely singing, at the start he's literally just talking.

Finally we have a great debut for once. After spending a few weeks in the abyss, Zara Larsson debuts with the title track from her latest album Midnight Sun. This song is super fun and has some interesting production. Unfortunately, Hits 1 hates Zara Larsson for some reason and has let her last 2  songs only last 1 week. Let's hope this lasts more than 1 week.

I didn't think this song was ever gonna debut. After spending 14 weeks in the abyss, When Did You Get Hot finally debuts. This song is quite fun and Sabrina sounds good. But it's only a matter of time until this hits #1 because her last 7 songs have all gone #1.

Countdown Extra: Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ed Sheeran/Arijit Singh - Sapphire [+12]

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: sombr - back to friends [-7]

Last year's #1 song: ROSÉ/Bruno Mars - APT. (5/6 weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: JENNIE/Dominic Fike - Love Hangover

Least favorite song last year: Kendrick Lamar/SZA - luther

Most missed song: Holly Humberstone - The Walls Are Way Too Thin (2021)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Charlie Puth/Kenny G - Cry

Bad Bunny - DtMF [1]

Clean Bandit/Zara Larsson - Symphony [1]

Starting off hitbound we have new sombr. Homewrecker is pretty good. The production is pretty upbeat. The one thing I don't like is sombr has weird effects on his voice throughout the song, otherwise he sounds good.

This next collab is destined for the Hot AC bin. Myles Smith and Niall Horan collab with Drive Safe. This is just some forgettable folk pop song, but Myles and Niall do sound good together.

Holly Humberstone finally makes her Hits 1 debut. She's been floating around on alt for a few years now. I remember The Walls Are Way Too Thin from 2021 was quite good. And so is To Love Somebody. The production is pretty upbeat and Holly's voice is great as always.

Oh goodie, we have more Joji. Glimpse of Us was garbage. I used to hate Die For You then it grew on me and became one of my favorite songs of 2023. Now he's back with Hotel California. This song is just mid. The production is pretty generic and Joji sounds bored. I don't think he's ever gonna make another song as great as Die For You.

Oh good, more ZAYN because we totally needed more forgettable 1D members. Die For Me is extremely mid. The production is super underwhelming but ZAYN sounds decent I guess.

Maisie Peters is back yet again with My Regards. This is a lot more upbeat than Audrey Hepburn, but this is still extremely forgettable.

Exits:

  • Charlie Puth - Beat Yourself Up [3]
  • Olivia Dean - A Couple Minutes [1]
  • Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas [1] SOTW
  • Megan Moroney - Wish I Didn't [2]
  • Machine Gun Kelly - times of my life [5]

Choosin' Texas left despite being the countdown extra and finds itself in the abyss. A Couple Minutes unfortunately entered the abyss, hopefully this doesn't end up debuting. Wish I Didn't was a fun but forgettable country song. I'm surprised Hits 1 didn't pick up on Charlie Puth's new single Cry. And times of my life was great but it had faded on me a bit.

2026 total dropouts: 31

Estimated total for 2026: 161 (+5)

Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas [1]

Olivia Dean - A Couple Minutes [1]

Hilary Duff - Roommates [2]

RIP to Lush Life. And what on earth is this Bad Bunny song? I have no idea what I just listened to.

The blurbs are way too thin:

We lost Changes, So Unfair, Vodka Cranberry, and Tears. Changes and So Unfair were amazing songs that went #1 on my personal charts, but they were getting quite old. Vodka Cranberry and Tears were extremely old and really needed to leave.

This is just getting comical at this point. YUKON has rotted in the bottom 5 for 4 months now. I don't even know anymore.

Sapphire doesn't know what it wants to do. It had a high reentry, then a massive drop, then a massive 12 spot jump. Just make up your mind already.

RIP to back to friends. As it was starting to go #1 everywhere else, it had a massive drop.

Not too thrilled seeing Changing in the top 10.

Geeze, Golden just refuses to leave the top 10. This is just ranking in the all-time ultimate ranks points at this point.

Nice to see 12 to 12 finally in the top 5. Unfortunately, it's a bit too late and doesn't really have a shot at #1.

Welp, I Just Might didn't go #1 this week like we all thought. Which is so annoying because I Just Might literally had twice as many spins as The Fate of Ophelia. Not once has The Fate of Ophelia ever been #1 in airplay its entire time at #1, which is probably a record. I feel like The Fate of Ophelia might get another week at #1 because Anti-Hero had 10 weeks at #1 and The Fate of Ophelia is having a similar countdown run as it.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
