KATSEYE (3) - Week of Oct 24, 2026

Hey guys! Well, if you saw yesterday's post, then you already know Hits 1 delayed the countdown to today, Sunday, due to the Taylor Swift weekend takeover. Because apparently, playing Taylor Swift non-stop for 13 hours straight is more important than the weekend countdown.

Debuts:

This is a very weird collab. From the GTA 6 soundtrack, Justice, Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard team up to make Flower In A Hurricane. This is a phenomenal song and I'm glad it ended up debuting. The vocals from Kevin Parker and SZA, and the production from Justice are amazing. I'm not really sure why King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are credited on this song since they don't have any production or vocal credits on this song.

Tate McRae makes her return to the countdown since TIT FOR TAT earlier this year with Housewife. This song is decent. The production is upbeat enough, and Tate sounds good, but this just sounds very forgettable.

Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan debut with a remix of expectations, making this Chappell Roan's first ever feature on a song. The original expectations was phenomenal, and the remix is even better. The 80s synthpop production is insanely catchy, and Olivia and Chappell both sound great together. This better spend multiple weeks at #1, or Hits 1 has a serious problem.

Countdown Extra: The Chainsmokers - Baby

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Bruno Mars - Dance With Me [+7]

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Ariana Grande - petal [-4]

Last year's #1 song: Sabrina Carpenter - Tears (3/3 Weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: AJR - The Big Goodbye

Least favorite song last year: Jackson Wang - Made Me A Man

Most missed song: John Mayer/Taylor Swift - Half of My Heart (2010)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Temper City - Sex & Drugs

Harry Styles - Coming Up Roses [1]

We have 2 songs this week debuting from the Nobody Wants This soundtrack, with one being better than the other. First up is the worse of the 2. STELLA LEFTY teams up with Bailey Zimmerman on My Kinda Love. Yeah, this song is forgettable as hell. The country production is super boring but at least Stella and Bailey sound somewhat decent together.

Next up is the best of the 2 Nobody Wants This debuts, Hands On Me. Finally, a good Maisie Peters song for once, after the snoozefests Audrey Hepburn and My Regards. This kind of sounds like a country version of Lost The Breakup. I can see this song growing on me.

LISA just released her new EP PRESS PLAY, and she's here with her next single Tarantino. This song is pretty fun. It has a cool Chinese action movie production, and LISA sounds good. This could grow on me.

Geez, I never thought I would have to talk about John Mayer on this blog, but here we are. John Mayer makes his long-awaited return to Hits 1 after 16 years since Half of My Heart with Taylor Swift was on the countdown back in 2010. That's how long John Mayer has been off Hits 1, the last time he was on Hits 1, he was still dating Taylor Swift. Anyways, he's back with Tom and Jerry. I usually enjoy John Mayer's music, and this is no exception. This is a nice little guitar ballad, and John Mayer sounds great as always. I'm really surprised Hits 1 picked up on this, because this feels more like an adult contemporary song that would spend 10 weeks at #1 on The Pulse, but I'm glad they did.

Exits:

  • Teddy Swims - Perfect Man [5]

Perfect Man was literally just hitbound filler.

The Baddest Blurbs Ain't In LA:

We lost the cure, Earrings, brand new chanel$. the cure and Earrings were both great songs, but they were getting quite old. RIP to brand new chanel$, it did not need to flop that hard.

Nice to see Stop The Wedding getting a big jump.

Patient Zero only jumped one spot? I thought for sure, due to Taylor's takeover, that Patient Zero would have had a massive jump into the top 5 or even #1, but I guess not.

Nice to see Loser in the top 10.

Bass Persuades jumped to #4. I really hope this can be our next #1.

Animal is still #1 this week, but I don't expect this to stay #1 for much longer.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

Hits 1 Delayed The Countdown

Well. This is a first. For the 20th anniversary of Taylor Swift's first album, Hits 1 decided to delay the countdown until tomorrow, and instead play nothing but Taylor Swift for 24 hours straight. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. For other artist takeover weekends, at least Hits 1 plays the countdown before that happens. But I guess not this time. On the app, it says that the countdown will air tomorrow at 6am, so luckily it doesn't look like the countdown is cancelled. So I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow for my countdown post.

If An AI Decided The Countdown - Week of Oct 24, 2026

AI-generated illustration of six KATSEYE members on stone platforms in a moonlit conservatory beneath a glowing Animal title.

Hey guys! Well, after abandoning these posts over a year ago, I decided to bring this back. Basically, I use airplay, and the latest AI reasoning model to predict each week's countdown. But this time I'm doing things a bit differently. Before, I supplied the real countdown to the AI each week. I won't be doing that anymore. Instead, I gave it the real countdown this week, then every other week the AI will build off the previous AI countdown. So eventually, the AI countdown will be totally different from the real countdown. Everything from here on out is written entirely by the AI, including the blurbs at the bottom. I'd like to keep this as a recurring weekly series every Friday night. I'll try to do this every Friday night, as long as the AI cooperates with me. Well, hope you guys enjoy, and feel free to leave feedback in the comments if you want something changed. Alright, enough talking, let's get started!

AI Notes

A narrow gap, not an automatic handover

Animal stays at #1 for its third total week at the top. The snapshot gives stupid song 91 plays and Animal 88, so I move Olivia Rodrigo up to #2 but let KATSEYE keep the lead. Three plays are enough to sharpen the challenge, not enough for me to discard the incumbent automatically.

The upper tier gets a reshuffle

My Body Isn't Ready and Bass Persuades each climb three places, to #3 and #4, backed by 87 and 81 plays. House Tour eases to #5 with 46 plays. Mr. Know It All has 32, but I prefer a four-place slide to #6 over a sudden collapse: its previous #1 status still matters in this chart's continuity.

Two very different seven-place jumps

Patient Zero goes #14 → #7 with 87 plays, while Jamie Miller’s Babydoll goes #29 → #22 with 46. They share the Biggest Jump Of The Week despite different levels of airplay. I am giving Patient Zero a major fourth-week advance and Babydoll a strong second-week step, not applying a fixed plays-to-positions formula.

New peaks without a total reset

EMERALD EYES climbs four to #9 with 68 plays, and Listen When Sad inches up to #8 with 65. Great Expectation rises three to #14 on 46 plays, while Joy. rises three to #17 on 61. These are deliberate steps along separate chart paths; a larger play count does not automatically erase the history already in place.

The biggest drop keeps its history intact

I Knew It, I Knew You falls eight places to #13 with 28 plays in this snapshot. That is the largest chart drop, not a claim that its airplay fell by any amount compared with last week. Its #1 peak and three total weeks at #1 remain part of the record.

Three exits, including a former #1

the cure leaves from #10 after 21 cumulative weeks and two total weeks at #1. Its 17 plays are the lowest among the 30 songs in the supplied seed. I also remove brand new chanel$ with 26 plays and bloodstream with 31 to make room for three debuts. Those are my chart decisions, not claims that the station stopped playing any of them.

The 31-play tie does not demand a tie

Dance No More and bloodstream both have 31 plays. I keep Harry Styles at #29, down two, because I want to give the newer entry another week to establish itself; bloodstream exits with eight cumulative weeks already recorded. Equal airplay can lead to different editorial choices without pretending one song has a measured upward trend.

Three arrivals, three fresh starting points

Flower In A Hurricane debuts at #27 with 55 plays, followed by Tate McRae’s Housewife at #28 with 54. Olivia Rodrigo/Chappell Roan’s expectations enters at #30 with 37. The first two are already substantial presences in the snapshot, but I am choosing lower debuts so their countdown runs have room to develop.

Reentries and long runs still count

Steve Lacy’s oh yeah? rises four to #26 and reaches seven cumulative weeks; last week’s reentry does not reset its age or become a second reentry this week. Boston is the oldest active song at 26 weeks. The fifth-oldest age group is a tie, so both My Body Isn’t Ready and House Tour appear in the oldest-song section.

Credits and song identities

The airplay source lists Joy. under RAYE and Minibar under Gracie Abrams. I matched each by title and primary artist, then kept the supplied chart’s fuller credits; those collaborators are not independently verified by this source. Jamie Miller’s Babydoll is also kept separate from Dominic Fike’s song with the same title.

Debuts:

Sigh, I am not too thrilled about the two reentries. First up, Steve Lacy's oh yeah reentered. This song is way too weird and boring, and Steve has horrible filters over his voice that sound terrible. I would have liked this song stayed dead.

We lost one Babydoll this week, but gained another. Jamie Miller has been announced as our next one to watch, and finally debuts this week with Babydoll. This song is phenomenal. The production is insanely catchy and Jamie sounds great. Hopefully this ends up doing well.

Oh goodie, another questionable reentry. Alyssa Grace's bloodstream has reentered for a second time and is now on its third countdown run. Can Hits 1 just make up its mind already? Like oh yeah, this song is also extremely weird and boring, and Alyssa's voice is garbage. Can this song just stay dead already please?

After spending a week in the abyss, Bruno Mars' Dance With Me finally debuts. This is a nice little ballad, and Bruno sounds good here. But this is quite forgettable, and isn't nearly as good as I Just Might or Risk It All.

Countdown Extra: Ax and the Hatchetmen - Hotel Room

Biggest Jump Of The Week: ADÉLA - Nicole Kidman [+12]

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Ariana Grande - petal [-4]

Favorite song last year: Louis Tomlinson - Lemonade

Finally. I've been begging Hits 1 to play this song for the past 4 months. With the Chappell Roan remix releasing, Hits 1 has finally picked up on Olivia Rodrigo's expectations. This song is incredible. It's super fun, and gives off cool 80s synthpop vibes. Olivia and Chappell sound great together on the remix. I have no doubt this will end up being a huge hit.

Tate McRae has been pretty quiet this year. Housewife is actually the only song this year she's released so far. This song's alright. The production is upbeat enough, and Tate sounds good, but this just sounds a bit too forgettable.

Ashe just released her new album The Girl Of Your Dreams, and Hits 1 picked up on the next single from it Lasso The Moon. This song is solid. It has some interesting 70s vibes and Ashe sounds good, and it has a nice key change at the end. But this seems a bit too forgettable, and isn't nearly as great as Stop The Wedding.

There were 2 songs called Baby that released this week, and Hits 1 decided to pick up on The Chainsmokers one over the Hayes Warner one. Which I'm glad, because The Chainsmokers one is so much better. The EDM production is phenomenal here. It gives off 2016 vibes, and also gives off I Love U vibes. I don't see this becoming a hit, but who knows.

Oh nice, Hits 1 decided to pick up on Andy Grammer's new song Don't Want To Fall In Love. I've really been enjoying this one since it came out yesterday. This gives off Run-Around by Blues Traveler vibes, if anyone here is old enough to remember that song from 1995. This song is super fun and Andy sounds great as always. I would really like for this to become a hit.

Lastly, Hits 1 has finally decided to pick up on one of the GTA 6 songs, and this might be one of the weirdest collabs we've had in awhile. Justice, Tame Impala, SZA, and indie rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard team up with Flower In A Hurricane. I believe this is the first ever song Hits 1 has picked up on from a video game soundtrack, but please correct me if I'm wrong. This song is really cool. I really like the 80s Miami synthrock vibes. And Tame Impala and SZA sound great together. I'm not sure if this will end up becoming a hit, but I'd like to see it.

Exits:

  • Lil Nas X - World's Greatest! [2]
  • Hayes Warner - Seriously [1]
  • Miley Cyrus - Let's Get Married [4]
  • LISA - SaWaDiKa [6]
  • Marshmello/Kelsea Ballerini - Another Drink [7; 2nd time]
  • Freya Skye - bad taste [4]

RIP to World's Greatest, it was just starting to grow on me. Hopefully it comes back. I'm not sure what the point of bringing back Another Drink was if it was just gonna flop again. And nothing else will be missed.

Blurb The Moon:

We lost PASSENGER, Repeat It, Still, and Babydoll. Aww, I'm really sad PASSENGER flopped, I was really hoping it could go #1. I guess not. Repeat It was great but it was getting quite old since it debuted hitbound all the way back in May, so it was time to leave. Still was the definition of radio filler, but I'm suprised it flopped so hard as it did. And Babydoll almost became the first song in the 30 countdown song era to spend 30 weeks on the countdown without ever peaking in the top half of the countdown, so I think that deserves an obituary.

Dominic Fike - Babydoll made its countdown debut on March 28, 2026.  It lived a debatably-good 7-month life for some reason.  Never aspiring for greatness, Babydoll became a shining example of “be happy what you have”.  It never ascended higher than the #17 spot on the countdown.  Though it was never loved enough to see the countdown’s top half, it never once complained.  This lends credence to the idea that a positive attitude has a definite impact on longevity.  The Hits-1 voters never over-the-top appreciated it, and quite frankly neither did I, but a very modest number of people apparently consistently loved it for what it was.  Isn’t that all any of us aspire for?  Its lasting presence on the countdown did not go unnoticed, as a certain Hits-1 countdown recapper dedicated some of his precious Blurb space each week to discuss amazement at how it lasted so long.  I won’t go so far as to say Babydoll will be missed.  In fact, it certainly won’t be.  But we now find ourselves in a world in which there’s one fewer thing that doesn’t make any sense and can’t be explained by human logic, and well, that quite frankly ruins some of the magic of being alive. Good-bye Babydoll.  It’s been real.

Nicole Kidman and Great Expectation both jumped big this week. Both songs have grown on me quite a bit, so I will gladly take it.

I'm glad that Joy keeps jumping, but I would like to see it higher than #20.

Hootie Frutti is doing a lot better than I expected. I thought it was gonna flop hard, but it's already up to #18, so I guess not.

Bass Persuades jumped to #7. I wonder if this could go #1? I'd like to see it.

Animal stayed at #1 this week thankfully. I'm not sure what our next #1 song could be. But I do know Patient Zero will go #1 eventually, so it's just a matter of when.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
