Debuts:

Wow, it's been a very hot minute since Kehlani has been on the countdown. She was last seen with her feature on Charlie Puth's Done For Me in 2018, and this is actually her first ever solo song on the countdown. Folded isn't really my thing. Kehlani sounds good here, but this is just some boring forgettable R&B song.

Countdown Extra: Thomas Day - she got a thing about her

Chappell Roan is back again with a song called The Subway after The Giver flopped hard. I usually love Chappell Roan, but I'm not feeling this song. This seems extremely boring. But hopefully this can grow on me.

Reneé Rapp just released her new album BITE ME, and here we have You'd Like That Wouldn't You. This is pretty good. The production is pretty interesting and she sounds good. Still not as good as Leave Me Alone though.

Wow, it's been a very hot minute since we've heard from Demi Lovato. She hasn't been seen on Hits 1 since 2022 with SKIN OF MY TEETH, 29, and SUBSTANCE. Fast is pretty good. I really like the dark EDM production and Demi sounds great as always, but this still seems a bit forgettable. I have a feeling this might grow on me though.

Lastly we have more Russell Dickerson because we totally needed more of him. Happen To Me is a solid country song, but not something that I would want to revisit.

Exits:

  • Conan Gray - Vodka Cranberry [3]
  • The Kid LAROI - HOT GIRL PROBLEMS [1]
  • KATSEYE - Gabriela [3]

HOT GIRL PROBLEM and Gabriela find themselves in the abyss. Everything else was super forgettable.

You stole the blurbs:

Just 1 exit this week, party 4 u. This was extremely long and boring and did not deserve to become a hit at all.

This was not a very interesting countdown. There was only one song that moved more than 3 spots.

Can Betty please do something besides rot in the bottom 5?

Busy Woman had barely any airplay this week yet it reentered the top 10.

Mystical Magical jumped to #3. Hopefully this gets #1 next week instead of Manchild.

Ordinary has finally reached #1...2 months after it already went #1 on Mediabase, and having hardly any airplay. Better late than never I guess. I do not like this song at all, but at least it overthrew Sabrina the clown from #1.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

  1. Why would you rather have Ordinary at #1 than Manchild at #1, even though you have Manchild as good and Ordinary as decent?

    1. cuz Sabrina is becoming too damn overrated, even if I do like Manchild more.

  2. Hello Ethan,

Just checking in to make sure everything's ok with you. I noticed that for the past few months you're posts have been coming out at least 3 milliseconds later a lot of the time which is why I just want to make sure everything's ok with you.

  6. Ethan, When can we be friends again? I miss talking to you, I would really like to talk to you again and I think I've calmed down now, I haven't had a mental breakdown in over 5 months...

    1. I'm not trying to be pushy it's okay if you don't want to but I would really like to talk to you again and I won't harass you as much as I did last time lol.

    2. I will say, I haven’t been involved in any of the Ethan-Daniel Drama, however I’m staying in neutral terms. Both of you guys seem like pretty chill people and I haven’t really experienced anything bad so far (I haven’t been into the blogging community as much as you two, plus I don’t have discord), so i hope everything remains calm.

      Delete
    3. Thanks, StarBandi I think you're cool too :) Me and Ethan don't really have drama directly, I think he just got tired of me having mental breakdowns on the discord server for 3 years straight lol, which I completely understand.

      Delete
    4. Thanks! Also, feel free to call me Star :)

      Delete
    5. You seriously need to stop with all the begging. I'm not becoming friends with you ever again. I was never really your friend to begin with, I was just the only person on the server who would put up with all your mental breakdowns. Stop asking or you're gonna annoy me even more.

    6. I never even did anything to you…And you literally called me a good friend. Please I get you’re upset but don’t take it out on me. I have a power outage so I’m on my phone.

  12. Ethan, Remember North Star Calling the canadian version of 18002738255 but with like 50 artists? Did you realize Crash Adams were featured on it lmao?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Apparently its an interpolation of two different songs, "What I Wouldn't Do" by Serena Ryder and North Star Calling by Leela Gilday.

Didn't Serena Ryder have songs on Hits 1?

      Delete
    2. I already knew Crash Adams were on it. You said so when you announced the song on Discord. I have no idea who Serena Ryder is and she has never had a song on Hits 1.

      Delete
    3. Wait I didn't realize Crash Adams were known to us when I made it an ROD.

  13. why did metro boomin release an album thats so fun

  14. ive gotten into music production a LOT recently. EDM is actually the hardest to create cuz theres so much layers and you need to make each and every layer sound great, along with automations and such.

  15. Ethan my mother is happy that 1965 is purple since she is a Jessie Murph fan

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't know there were such things as Jessie Murph stans

      Delete
    2. Idk if you have the extension that allows you to view the dislike amount. but 1965 has about 5x as many dislikes than likes. It's even worse than the Doechii remix of Timeless lmao

      Delete
    3. It is lol. I find it funny how you enjoy some of the most hated songs this year, between 1965 and Anxiety and probably more

      Delete
    4. I did NOT know Anxiety was one of the most hated songs this year

      Delete
    5. Anxiety well was used in so many yt shorts, reels, tiktoks, everywhere, and people started to really hate the song. also cuz it basically used the same melody as somebody that i used to know lol

      Delete
    6. I think I also like a lot of the "hated" songs this year. I did not know that about Anxiety, but I knew that Mystical Magical, Shake It To The Max, and maybe even Illegal, all of which are songs I rlly like, seem to get quite a bit of hate for the same reasons

      Delete

    4. the record is Andy Grammer - Honey, I'm Good which took 32 weeks. Also fun fact, the longest time a song took to enter the top 10 was MAX/gnash - Lights Down Low at 48 weeks.

  18. Has anyone notice that now HITBOUND songs are skipping the countdown, heading straight to the abyss, and don’t debut until weeks, months later, or not at all? Also now countdown songs seem to be straight from the abyss after skipping hitbound as a whole or songs that re-appeared on the abyss after leaving hitbound a few weeks ago.

    1. Yeah I know, why are they doing that this year?

      Delete
  19. Um, Ethan, Hits 1 is playing another song from The Tortured Poets Department, because they apparently did not get the memo that it flopped. "How Did It End?" is getting lots of play now lol

    ReplyDelete

    1. TTPD did not flop and How Did It End is a gorgeous song idk what ur talking about

      Delete
    2. Oh joy more music from the tortured ears department

      Delete
    3. Classic autocorrect mistake. You likely meant "ERAS" not "ears" lol.

      Delete
    4. The real question of "how did it end?" isn't how your relationship with me ended. It's how people's adoration of your music ended.

      Delete
    5. We now have an album in the works called "How It Really Ended" all about how you broke our hearts
