Debuts:

We finally have the long awaited return of Kygo to the countdown with a collab with Khalid and Gryffin with Save My Love. Kygo hasn't been on the countdown since Dancing Feet in 2022. This is a nice little EDM song, it has a great drop, and Khalid sounds great, but this is still a bit on the generic side. Maybe it will end up growing on me.

Finally making its way out of the abyss, Pitbull and Lil Jon form to make JUMPIN 2.0, aka Damn I Love Miami. This song is extremely fun and I'm really glad it ended up debuting. But unfortunately this is probably going to flop hard.

Oh god, I was really hoping these next 2 songs would not debut, but they unfortunately have. First up is the "better" of the 2. After dropping out of hitbound and spending a few weeks in the abyss, A Couple Minutes finally debuts. Yeah, this song is garbage. The production is extremely slow and repetitive. It's some weird boring jazz production that doesn't evolve at all. And Olivia sounds like complete garbage. How on earth is this even a hit?

Ugh, I really did not want to have to talk about this guy, but it looks like I have to now. Bad Bunny makes his first ever appearance on the countdown with DtMF, since Hits 1 edited him out on their "exclusive" 2 minute edit of Cardi B's I Like It in 2018. I've never had to talk about Bad Bunny before on this blog, but I absolutely cannot stand the guy. Let's address the obvious reason - his voice. His voice is complete garbage. There's been several artists over the years that make me want to slam my head against a wall anytime I hear them, but at least they make some kind of attempt to sing. Bad Bunny doesn't even try to sing. Literally all he does is talk with some garbage autotune over it. And the beat on this song is super repetitive. It's just the same Latin beat over and over. Let's pray this song flops hard, or I'm going to have some very choice words with Hits 1.

Countdown Extra: Knox - Go For Broke

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Olivia Dean - So Easy (To Fall In Love) [+5]

Alex Warren is here with his latest song FEVER DREAM. Wow, he made a great song for once since Bloodline. The production is super catchy and Alex sounds great. Hopefully this ends up debuting, and I'm pretty certain it will.

Bruno Mars has just released his first solo album in 10 years The Romantic. We have the second single from it Risk It All. Ugh, why is this the next single? This is just some forgettable ballad that's so insanely boring. I just love that one of the Spotify tags for this song says "music for soccer moms", which is perfect. Only soccer moms would enjoy this ballad.

After dropping out of hitbound last month, FEAR has reentered. This is an amazing song, and hopefully it ends up making the countdown on its second run.

We have the second single from RAYE's upcoming album called Nightingale Lane. This is solid. It has some interesting jazz R&B production, otherwise this is pretty forgettable. Not nearly as great as WHERE IS MY HUSBAND.

Um, what on earth is this next song? A random Dominic Fike song from 2018 called Babydoll is starting to trend. I don't know if I can even call this a "song", more like a song fragment. It's only 1:38 long. It's actually the 3rd shortest song Hits 1 has ever picked up on. It's only 1 second longer than Jiggle Jiggle, and 3 seconds longer than I Can't Go Back To The Way It Was. Despite the short length, this song kinda slaps. I just wish it was an actual song. It ends right when it starts getting interesting.

After Lover Girl flopped on the countdown, Laufey is back with How I Get. What the heck did I just listen to? This is way too overproduced and extremely boring. Lover Girl and Tough Luck were incredible songs, how did she regress so much? I know I said the same thing about Tough Luck when it first debuted hitbound, and that ended up growing on me, but I highly doubt this will grow on me.

BLACKPINK just released their new EP called DEADLINE, and they're here with GO. This song slaps so hard. It has a dubstep beat that goes hard, and the girls sound great as always. Hopefully this ends up becoming a hit.

Exits:

  • Meghan Trainor - Get In Girl [2]
  • STELLA LEFTY - Thinking 'bout You [5]
  • SIENNA SPIRO - You Stole The Show [6; 2nd time] (1TW)
  • ZAYN - Die For Me [3]
  • Maisie Peters - My Regards [3]
  • KPop Demon Hunters Cast - How It's Done [1]

None of these seem to be in the abyss yet. But I expect at least one of these songs to enter the abyss at some point.

2026 total dropouts: 42

Estimated total for 2026: 172 (+7)

No longer in the abyss:

  • t.A.T.u. - All the Things She Said [6]

Nightingale Blurbs:

We lost YUKON, Internet Girl, Golden, and Man I Need. Golden had an incredible run but it really needed to leave like 2 months ago. Man I Need got really old so I'm glad that finally left. Internet Girl slapped but it was starting to get kinda annoying. And I think it's time to bring back the special obituary for YUKON.

Justin Bieber - YUKON made its countdown debut on October 25, 2025.  It lived a debatably-good 4 and a half month life for some reason.  Never aspiring for greatness, YUKON became a shining example of “be happy with what you have”.  It never ascended higher than the #26 spot on the countdown. Though it was never loved enough to see the countdown's top half, it never once complained. This lends credence to the idea that a positive attitude has a definite impact on longevity.  The Hits-1 voters never over-the-top appreciated it, and quite frankly neither did I, but a very modest number of people apparently consistently loved it for what it was.  Isn't that all any of us aspire for?  Its lasting presence on the countdown did not go unnoticed, as a certain Hits-1 countdown recapper dedicated some of his precious Blurb space each week to discuss amazement at how it lasted so long.  I won't go so far as to say YUKON will be missed.  In fact, it certainly won't be.  But we now find ourselves in a world in which there's one fewer thing that doesn’t make any sense and can't be explained by human logic, and well, that quite frankly ruins some of the magic of being alive.  Good-bye YUKON.  It’s been real (not!).

Geeze, the biggest drop on the countdown was a pitiful 1 spot. As far as I know, that is a record. The smallest biggest drop I could find was when several songs dropped 2 spots in 2022. And then in 2021, there was a week where the smallest biggest jump was only +1. So we finally have a week where the biggest drop was only -1, and another week where the biggest jump was only +1.

Woah, 12 to 12 jumped to #3. But I think it's a bit too late for this is reach #1, especially with I Just Might increasing in popularity.

Finally, it's about damn time I Just Might went #1! I was getting worried for a minute. I thought Taylor would block him from #1 forever. But not even Taylor can hold him from #1 forever. I can see this song lasting a whole lot longer at #1.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

Debuts:

One song wonder Tanner Massey makes his chart debut with Choke. Where does Daniel even find these songs? This guy only has 1k monthly listeners. This song is actually really fun. But I don't see this lasting more than one week.

David Guetta is back to sampling songs now. This time he sampled Cutting Crew's 1987 hit I Just Died In Your Arms, with his new song Walked Away. This is yet another dance banger from him.

These next 3 debuts took some time to grow on me, some a lot longer than others. First is Tiffany Stringer's country bop Bullet that has grown on me quite a bit.

This song took an eternity to grow on me. Sabrina Carpenter finally made a good song for once in her life with When Did You Get Hot. This is her first appearance on my charts since Feather spent a few weeks on my charts back in 2023. This song is extremely fun and has some really cool alt-funk vibes.

Holly Humberstone finally makes her first appearance on my charts with To Love Somebody. This is a super fun alt song that has grown on me a lot.

Our last debut is actually a reentry. Bruno Mars reenters with I Just Might, except this time it's a remix by Austin Millz. The original song was groovy, but the remix is 100x groovier.

Debuts:

After dropping out of hitbound and spending the last 3 weeks in the abyss, Roommates finally debuts. This might be the record for the longest time an artist has had between having a song on the countdown. Hilary Duff hasn't been seen on the countdown since With Love in 2007. Which makes it 19 years since Hilary Duff has had her last song on the countdown. That's impressive. As for the song itself, this has grown on me quite a bit since it first entered hitbound. This is a nice chill, vibey song, and Hilary's voice is great. Am I the only one who thinks the production is a carbon copy of Anti-Hero? The most random stealing of someone's production since Havanna Winter randomly stole Nessa Barrett's La Di Die with Rain Rain Go Away.

The last debut is so painfully Hot AC-core. Myles Smith and Niall Horan collab on Drive Safe. Why has Hits 1 picked up on this? It's just some forgettable generic folk pop song. It sounds like something that would be #1 for 10 weeks in a row on the Pulse. I think Hits 1 is so desperate for new music from One Direction members, they'll make literally any song from them debut the countdown.

Oh joy, Charli XCX is here with her millionth hitbound dropout Dying for You. I will give it this. This is a lot better than her recent hitbound dropouts. The production is actually upbeat for once! But this still isn't really that great. This is still extremely forgettable.

Wow, it's been a few years since we've heard from Kygo. We last heard from him when For Life dropped out of hitbound in 2024. He teams up with Khalid and Gryffin with Save My Love. This song is solid. The EDM production from Kygo and Gryffin is great, and Khalid sounds good. I just think this song is on the forgettable side. Maybe it will grow on me though.

We have a "secret" Twenty One Pilots song debuting this week. Apparently Drag Path was a digital download only song for one day when Breach was released last year. But now it's been released proper. This song is not that great. It's extremely boring. There's probably a reason this song was only available for one day.

I'm sorry, who? Where the hell does Mikey come up with these artists? We've had a lot of random no-names these past few weeks, but this might be the strangest name of them all. Mckayla Twiggs makes her hitbound debut with What a Girl Wants. I'm sorry, but if your name is Mckayla Twiggs, that just screams "one hit wonder". This song is actually pretty good. This has some interesting alt production and Mckayla does have a really good voice.

Oh goodie, we totally needed more Hits 1 plant flowerovlove. She's back with Casual Lady. This song is actually pretty fun. Forgettable, but still fun.

Since we didn't have enough weirdness on hitbound already, we have the most random and late debut we've had since 2016's BOOMBAYAH by BLACKPINK randomly debuted hitbound last year. How It's Done which spent a ridiculous 18 weeks in the abyss last year, just now decided to finally debut hitbound proper. It's been a few months since I've last heard this. And honestly it's a lot better than I remembered. The production is really catchy, and the HUNTRX girls sound good. Hopefully this ends up debuting the countdown so Golden can finally leave.

Right as High Maintenance went #1 on my personal charts, it left hitbound. RIP. Big Guy luckily at least seems to be in the abyss. Over Love, THANKFUL, and Hotel California were just mid.

2026 total dropouts: 38

Dodged a Blurb:

We lost Sapphire for a second time and Still Don't Care. What was the point of randomly bringing back Sapphire if it was just gonna flop again on its second run? And Still Don't Care was just forgettable Meghan Trainor radio filler.

I've lost count of the number of weeks YUKON has spent stuck at #29 now. I don't even have words to explain how ridiculous this is getting.

Wow, nice to see Homewrecker getting a huge 10 spot jump.

At least Die On This Hill is starting to drop a little bit. But with her being the one to watch, this won't leave anytime soon.

It's a gut punch that Gut Punch keeping jumping so much.

When Did You Get Hot has actually grown on me a lot. This might be her best song since Feather.

Geeze, how long is Golden gonna stay around for? I thought it would just join the 30 week club them immediately leave, but I guess not. I guess this is gonna be the next BIRDS OF A FEATHER.

Surely I Just Might has to go #1 next week, right? There's no way Taylor can be 14 weeks in a row at #1 next week, right? Well, let's just hope.

Well, that's all for now, see you all next week!
