Stop! Using Your Blurbs As Weapons:

I Like You is the first song to join the 30 week club since You Broke Me First last year. I thought shortening the countdown was supposed to prevent these old songs from staying on the countdown so long. And out of all the songs why does it have to be the most annoying song of the year! This song has been here for 7 months, this is just getting ridiculous at this point.

It's Been So Long is finally starting to jump.

Super Freaky Girl really does not need to be jumping.

Lavender Haze keeps dropping for some reason.

Enough entered the top 10. This song is fading on me a bit but I'm okay with it.

Oof, looks like STAR WALKIN' got blocked from #1.

I'm Good jumped to #2 and will most likely be blocked from #1. I don't see it dethroning Anti-Hero, and a EDM song hasn't been #1 since Come & Go in 2020.

And Anti-Hero is still #1 for 7 weeks. I wonder if it can break Shivers' record, because I don't see any songs that could dethrone it, except maybe I'm Good, but it's very unlikely.

That's all for now, see you all in 2023!

Taylor Swift (6) - Week Of Dec 24, 2022

What's up guys, merry Christmas! I hope you guys are enjoying the holidays. This countdown wasn't super exciting, but we did lose 2 bad songs and gained 2 pretty good ones.

Lift Me Up - Rihanna (#13) (7 weeks) [peak: 13]

2: STAR WALKIN' - Lil Nas X (=) (13 weeks) [peak: 2]

1: Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift (=) (9 weeks) [peak: 1 (6 weeks)]

Debuts:

The first debut is Creepin' by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage. This song has grown on me a little over the past few weeks. The production is very catchy and The Weeknd and 21 Savage both sound great.

I thought SZA's new single was Shirt, but here we have Nobody Gets Me instead. I would say this is better than Shirt. The production is decent but I'm not really a big fan of SZA's voice.

Countdown Extra: Too Well - Reneé Rapp

Biggest Jump Of The Week: I’m Good (Blue) - David Guetta/Bebe Rexha (+6)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: 6 way tie between Left And Right - Charlie Puth/JungkookLavender Haze - Taylor SwiftWorld’s Smallest Violin - AJRMade You Look - Meghan TrainorMillion Dollar Baby - Ava MaxUnholy - Sam Smith/Kim Petras (-2)

Used To - Lila Drew {6}

Kill Bill - SZA (Debut)

No Love For You - Regard/Drop G {8}

Hate You - Jordi {4}

Tukoh Taka - Nicki Minaj/Maluma/Myriam Fares {6}

SZA replaces herself again with Kill Bill. This is just okay, it sounds exactly the same as her other songs.

Exited to countdown:

Nobody Gets Me - SZA

Abyss:

Die For You - The Weeknd

Unstoppable - Sia

Hollywood Forever - Havanna Winter

Wasted On You - Morgan Wallen

BILLIE EILISH. - Armani White

Dreamers - Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound

Simply The Best - Black Eyed Peas/Anitta/El Elfa

The Loneliest - Måneskin

Sweater Weather - Neighbourhood

Merry Blurbmas!

We lost Lift Me Up and fmk. Lift Me Up was terrible so I'm glad it's gone. fmk was also very boring so it won't be missed.

Barely any movement this week. The biggest drop was only -2 with 6 songs.

I wish It's Been So Long could do something here.

I'm convinced I Like You is never gonna leave.

It's hilarious Lavender Haze dropped 2 spots after its high debut last week.

I'm Good jumped back up to #3. Hopefully that or Star Walkin' can overthrow Anti Hero.

Anti-Hero is #1 for a 6th week in a row. I don't really mind, but hopefully this doesn't stay #1 for much longer.

That's all for now, merry Christmas, and see you next week!

2022 Hits 1 Year End List

 It's time to take a look at the 2022 Hits 1 year end list, where Hits 1 counts down the top 30 biggest songs.

30: Taylor Swift - Message in a Bottle

This song was pretty fun, but did get kinda overplayed.

29: Ed Sheeran - Shivers

This song broke the #1 record, how was this not higher? I do love this song, even if it didn't deserve to break the record.

28: Tiësto/Ava Max - The Motto

This song is super dark and I love it.

27: Halsey - So Good

Another Halsey snoozefest.

26: OneRepublic - I Ain't Worried

Extremely fun and catchy.

25: Marshmello/Khalid - Numb

This was pretty fun but did get kinda old.

24: Jax - Victoria's Secret

I love the pop punk production, and it has a good message.

23: Post Malone/The Weeknd - One Right Now

This got extremely annoying.

22: Tate McRae - she's all i wanna be

The production was super cool

21: Imagine Dragons - Bones

Another annoying ID song.

20: Jack Harlow - First Class

The production is super bland and Jack Harlow sounds terrible.

19: Shawn Mendes - When You're Gone

This felt super generic.

18: NEIKED/Mae Muller/Polo G - Better Days

Really fun EDM song.

17: Charlie Puth/Jung Kook - Left and Right

Super fun and I love the speaker gimmick.

16: Ava Max - Maybe You're The Problem

This was generic and way too overplayed.

15: Harry Styles - Late Night Talking

The production is pretty cool but this got way too annoying.

14: Post Malone/Doja Cat - I Like You (A Happier Song)

Extremely annoying and overplayed.

13: Lauren Spencer-Smith - Fingers Crossed

A carbon copy of Lewis Capaldi's Before You Go.

12: Latto - Big Energy

This got super annoying.

11: Ed Sheeran - Overpass Graffiti

Good but nothing special.

10: Em Beihold - Numb Little Bug

This was good but slightly weird.

9: Dua Lipa/Megan Thee Stallion - Sweetest Pie

My second worst song of 2022/

8: GAYLE - abcdefu

Good pop punk song but got kinda annoying.

7: Charlie Puth - Light Switch

This was super fun and the production is really cool.

6: Imagine Dragons/JID - Enemy

Everybody wants to be my enemeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! If you read my worst list, then you know this was my worst song of 2022.

5: Dove Cameron - Boyfriend

The production was super cool, but this did get kinda overplayed.

4: Lil Nas X - That's What I Want

I thought this song would be #1 but I'm happy it made it this far. This song was super fun and dethroned Shivers from #1.

3: Nicky Youre/dazy- Sunroof

One of my favotie songs of 2022, and my favorite on this list. This was the ultimate summer song.

2: Lizzo - About Damn Time

Not the worst Lizzo song, but it still got super annoying.

1: Harry Styles - As It Was

Why am I not surprised Harry The Clown is #1. This was #1 the longest at 8 weeks, so it's no surprise it's #1 here. This song has grown on me slightly, but it's still not a great song.

Well, that does it for now. Stay tuned for my Hits 1 year in review post sometime in Jan.

2: STAR WALKIN' - Lil Nas X (+1) (12 weeks) [peak: 2]

1: Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift (=) (8 weeks) [peak: 1 (5 weeks)]

Debuts:

Debuting all the way at #11 with hardly any airplay is Lavender Haze by Taylor Swift. I like this song. It's a nice little vibey song, and it's way better than Anti Hero. Hopefully this does well.

Countdown Extra: ESCAPISM. - RAYE/070 Shake

These Nights - Loud Luxury/KIDDO (re-entry) {2}

Paper Crown - Alec Benjamin {3}

First up is actress Reneé Rapp with Too Well. I'm really liking this one. The production is super fun and she has a great voice.

SZA replaces herself with Nobody Gets Me. This is slightly better than Shirt, but not by much. The production is slow but decent and SZA sounds decent.

These Nights re-entered. I'd rather Paralyzed came back, but I guess I'll take it.

Who the heck is Kate Peytavin? Apparently she's a TikTok star or something. She makes her Hits 1 debut with ever fallen. Apparently this song samples a Shrek 2 song. Idk, I've never seen that movie. This is decent I guess. The production is decent and she also sounds decent.

Exits:

i'm yours - Isabel LaRosa {4}

Shirt - SZA {1}

Remember - Becky Hill/David Guetta {7}

Dreamers - Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound {2}

Shirt and Dreamers exit to the abyss. Remember was great, and i'm yours was super boring.

Abyss:

BILLIE EILISH. - Armani White

Shirt - SZA

Dreamers - Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound

Narcissist - Avery Anna

Simply The Best - Black Eyed Peas/Anitta/El Elfa

The Loneliest - Måneskin

Lavender Blurbs:

Good grief 2 Be Loved finally left, it was getting extremely annoying.

I've really grown on It's Been So Long. Hopefully this can do well here.

Thank God Evergreen just dropped.

Lift Me Up didn't drop but at least it didn't jump either.

I Like You needs to do less jumping and more leaving the countdown.

golden hour entered the top 10. This song is weird but good.

Star Walkin jumped to #2. Hopefully this can overthrow Anti Hero.

And of course Anti Hero is still #1. This song is getting kinda annoying, so it better leave #1 soon.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

1: Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift (=) (7 weeks) [peak: 1 (4 weeks)]

Countdown Extra: Pointless - Lewis Capaldi

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Eyes On You - Nicky Youre (+14)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: SNAP - Rosa Linn (-11)

Last year's #1 song: Shivers - Ed Sheeran (8/14 long weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: You Problem - Monsta X

Least favorite song last year:  love nwantiti (ah ah ah) - CKay

Most missed song: Blood In The Cut - K. Flay (2017)

Recommendation for Hits 1: MOLLY - Cedric Gervais/Joel Corry

5 oldest songs:

5: Tie between Victoria's Secret - Jax & Music For A Sushi Restaurant - Harry Styles (18 weeks)

4: 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) - Lizzo (19 weeks)

3: I Ain't Worried - OneRepublic (19 weeks)

2: Left And Right - Charlie Puth/Jungkook (24 weeks)

1: I Like You (A Happier Song) - Post Malone/Doja Cat (27 weeks)

Debuts:

You gotta be kidding me, Evergreen came back!?!?!?!?!?!!? Bruh, this really did not have to happen. Lift Me Up is still on the countdown, so this song is saved from the orange song treatment for now.

We finally have a new one to watch after the disaster of Amelia Moore, it's K. Flay with It's Been So Long. I really liked Blood In The Cut from 2017 and I love this one too. This song has really grown on me the past week after Hits 1 played it a few times. The production is so groovy and catchy and I really like K. Flay's voice.

Sabrina Carpenter is back on the countdown after Skin last year, with Nonsense. This also has grown on me a lot. Is it me or does this sound exactly like an Ariana Grande song? Sabrina sounds almost identical to Ari, and the production reminds me of Positions or something.

Lastly, making its way out of the abyss is fmk by GAYLE and blackbear. I'm not really loving this one. Gayle and blackbear both sound great, but the production is just way too boring for me to get into.

Hitbound:

Special - Lizzo {2}

Hero - Martin Garrix/JVKE (Debut)

i'm yours - Isabel LaRosa {4}

Creepin' - Metro Boomin/The Weeknd/21 Savage (Debut)

Shirt - SZA (Debut)

Weapons - Ava Max {5}

Pointless - Lewis Capaldi {2}

Used To - Lila Drew {4}

Remember - Becky Hill/David Guetta {7}

Paper Crown - Alec Benjamin {2}

Dreamers - Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound {2}

No Love For You - Regard/Drop G {6}

ESCAPISM. - RAYE/070 Shake (Debut)

Hate You - Jordi {2}

Tukoh Taka - Nicki Minaj/Maluma/Myriam Fares {4}

Die For You - Joji {6}

Martin Garrix makes his return to Hits 1 after Summer Days in 2019, with Hero with JVKE. Mikey Piff pointed it out and now I can't unhear it, it sounds a lot like Imagine Dragons, but nope it's JVKE singing. The production is super cool, it reminds me of Riptide by The Chainsmokers.

Next is Creepin' by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage. This is fine. The Weeknd and 21 Savage both sound great, but the production is just way too boring.

Yay, just what we needed, more Snooza! SZA just released a new album, and Shirt is the next single. This is decent. SZA sounds decent, and the production is kinda interesting but still kinda boring. This is definitely way better than I Hate U earlier this year.

Lastly is ESCAPISM by RAYE, who you might remember from the song BED with Joel Corry last year, and 070 Shake. This song is decent. RAYE sounds great here but this song is just way too weird for me.

Exits:

Paralyzed - Big Time Rush {1}

These Nights - Loud Luxury/KIDDO {1}

RIP Paralyzed you will be greatly missed. These Nights was pretty good but I don't mind that it's gone.

Abyss:

Unstoppable - Sia

Die For You - The Weeknd

if you ask me to - charli d'amelio

Hollywood Forever - Havanna Winter

Wasted On You - Morgan Wallen

BILLIE EILISH. - Armani White

Lavender Haze - Taylor Swift

Simply The Best - Black Eyed Peas/Anitta/El Elfa

Sweater Weather - Neighbourhood

It's Blurbed So Long:

We lost The Loneliest, Bad Habit, Until I Found You, and Hold Me Closer. The Loneliest deserved better. The other 3 were getting super annoying so I'm glad they're gone.

After being on the countdown for over 6 months, I Like You is finally starting to drop. Hopefully this leaves soon.

I'm surprised Sex, Drugs, Etc managed to jump, hopefully this can stick around a while longer.

Why did Bore Me Up jump so much? This really does not need to be here.

Eyes On You got a huge jump, I really hope this can get #1.

Super Annoying Girl does not need to be jumping.

Victoria's Secret really does not need to re-enter the top 5.

Nice to see STAR WALKIN' enter the top 3, hopefully this can dethrone Anti Hero.

And of course Taylor The Clown is still #1. Anti Hero is getting slightly annoying, this better leave #1 soon.

And that does it for now, see you all next week!

My Top 10 Best Songs of 2022

 2022 may not have been the best year for music, but there still was some really great music this year. I'm going to be taking a look at my top 10 favorite songs of 2022. Before we get to the top 10, let's look at some honorable mentions.

Honorable Mention #1:

Don't You Worry - Black Eyed Peas/David Guetta/Shakira

This song was so cool, it sounds like it came straight out of 2010. When this song came out I thought it was gonna be my #1 for the year, but it's since faded on me a bit, but I still do love it.

Honorable Mention #2:

I Ain't Worried - OneRepublic

This song was super fun and catchy, but it faded on me a bit.

Honorable Mention #3:

I’m Good (Blue) - David Guetta/Bebe Rexha

An amazing sample of the 1998 original Blue from Eiffel 65.

Honorable Mention #4:

The Motto - Tiësto/Ava Max

This song was super dark and I loved it.

Honorable Mention #5:
Sex, Drugs, Etc. - Beach Weather

This song was released in 2016 but didn't get popular til 2022. This is a super cool and catchy alt song.

Alright, with the honorable mentions out of the way, let's start at #10.

#10: When I'm Gone - Alesso/Katy Perry

Katy Perry's big comeback hit after the failure of Daisies in 2020. I'm a huge Katy Perry stan, and this song does not disappoint. The production from Alesso is phenomenal. He randomly pitches down Katy's voice throughout the song which is really cool. And Katy sounds amazing as always.

#9: Sunroof - Nicky Youre

This was the perfect summer song for 2022. The production is super fun and catchy and has perfect summer vibes. And I really like Nicky's unique voice.

#8: Stay With Me - Calvin Harris/Justin Timberlake/Halsey/Pharrell

It's kinda funny, Halsey is on both my best and worst list this year. This song was such a bop. I really like the funky production and it's super catchy. And Justin Timberlake, Halsey, and Pharrell all sound great. I really wish this song could have became a hit.

#7: Chosen - Blxst/Tyga/Ty Dolla $ign

I'm not one to usually like rap, but oh my this was amazing. This was released in 2020 but didn't get popular until 2022. The production was insanely fun and catchy, and everyone sounds great.

#6: World’s Smallest Violin - AJR

Another banger from AJR, you either love them or hate them, and I love them. This was released in 2021 but didn't get popular til a year later. The production is super fun and catchy. I love all the different instruments they used, violins, trumpets, xylophones, and electric guitars. I really love the ending when it starts off slow then slowly builds faster and faster until it finally reaches the climax.

#5: Jiggle Jiggle - Duke & Jones/Louis Theroux

This song was incredibly stupid...and I love it for that. This is easily the shortest song Hits 1 has ever played, at just a little over a minute and a half. Apparently Louis Theroux is a British journalist who did a freestyle, then Duke & Jones autotuned it and put a beat on it. This song shouldn't work, but it somehow does. This song is just too stupid to hate. Who needs deep meaningful lyrics when you can just laugh your way through the song.

#4: Edging - blink-182

blink-182's big comeback song after not making any for 2 years. This is the ultimate punk rock anthem and reminds me a lot of their songs in the 90s and 00s. The production from Travis Barker is incredible, and singers Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge do an amazing job as always.

#3: I'm Not Dead Yet - Mike Posner

I'm a huge Mike Posner stan. I loved Cooler Than Me and Please Don't Go in 2010, and I Took A Pill In Ibiza in 2016, and I was excited he released a new song this year, and it did not disappoint. The production is super cool and I love Mike Posner's unique voice.

#2: C’est La Vie - Yung Gravy/Rich Brian/bbno$

This song is just so inappropriate...and I love it! I loved edamame last year, and this is basically that part 2, except with Yung Gravy added. This was just so fun and catchy, and everyone sounds great. I've listened to this song hundreds of times and I'm still not tired of it. I really wished this song could have become a hit, but I know it never would have because the lyrics are very inappropriate.

And my #1 song of 2022 is...
...
...
Drumroll please
...
...

#1: Celestial - Ed Sheeran

Well this may come as a shock to some people, because I've never really talked about this song. But it's really grown on me recently, and I can't stop listening to it. I didn't know Ed could make EDM, but apparently he needs to make more, because this song is such a banger. The production evolves nicely throughout the song and the drop is incredible. And Ed sounds great as always. I really wished this could have become a hit, and Ed needs to keep making more music like this.

Well, I guess that does it for now. Stay turned for my Hits 1 a year in review post sometime in Jan.

Hitbound:

No Love For You - Regard/Drop G {5}

Hate You - Jordi (Debut)

Tukoh Taka - Nicki Minaj/Maluma/Myriam Fares {3}

Weapons - Ava Max {4}

i'm yours - Isabel LaRosa {3}

Special - Lizzo (Debut)

Pointless - Lewis Capaldi (Debut)

Nonsense - Sabrina Carpenter {7}

Die For You - Joji {5}

Paralyzed - Big Time Rush (Debut)

Paper Crown - Alec Benjamin (Debut)

These Nights - Loud Luxury/KIDDO (Debut)

Used To - Lila Drew {3}

Remember - Becky Hill/David Guetta {6}

It's Been So Long - K. Flay {2}

Dreamers - Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound (Debut)

First up is newcomer Jordi with Hate You. This one is decent. The production isn't that interesting but Jordi sounds pretty good.

Yay, just what we needed, more Lizzo! She's back with Special. This is fine, I guess. The production is pretty upbeat but Lizzo sounds terrible as always.

Yay, just what we needed, more Lewis Capaldi! Pointless is a lot slower than Forget Me, but it's still decent. The production is a lot better than his other ballads and Lewis actually sounds halfway decent.

Yay, just what we needed, more Alec Kidjamin! Ok, why are all my least favorite artists entering hitbound this week? Anyway, Paper Crown was actually written in 2016 and Alec recently re-recorded it. Of course, because we don't have enough old songs this year! This sounds like every other Alec Kidjamin, he still sounds like he's 12. This is better than Devil Doesn't Bargain but not by much.

Big Time Rush is making their return on Hits 1 after 10 years with Paralyzed. Apparently, this was from 2011 but the group re-recorded it, because we don't have enough old music. This song is such a banger. It reminds me of the Jonas Brothers' music in the 2000s. The pop rock production is really cool and everyone sounds great.

Loud Luxury is making their return on Hits 1 after Body in 2018 with These Nights. This is a really cool EDM song and Kiddo sounds great.

Lastly we have another World Cup song. It's Dreamers by Jung Kook, and I'm not sure why BTS is credited since it's just Jung Kook singing. The production is pretty cool and a lot better than Tukoh Taka, and Jung Kook sounds great.

Exits:

Sober - jxdn {2}

Born Again - Rihanna {3}

Rock And A Hard Place - Bailey Zimmerman {4}

If Jesus Was A Rockstar - Kim Petras {2}

The DJ Is Crying For Help - AJR {2}

Silver Tongues - Louis Tomlinson {3}

Sober, The DJ Is Crying For Help, and Silver Tongues were amazing and deserved better. Born Again was one of the worst songs I've ever heard, and Rock And A Hard Place and If Jesus Was A Rockstar were decent.

Abyss:

Unstoppable - Sia

Die For You - The Weeknd

fmk - GAYLE/blackbear

Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All) - Omar Apollo

if you ask me to - charli d'amelio

Hollywood Forever - Havanna Winter

Sleepwalking - All Time Low

BILLIE EILISH. - Armani White

Sweater Weather - Neighbourhood

Christmas Music:

All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

Paper blurbs:

No exits or debuts this week, which is excepted since things slow down at the end of the year.

Bad Habit got the biggest drop which is nice since it's getting very annoying. Sorry Trey.

LOL is Calm Down ever gonna do anything?

Um, can Eyes On You not drop please?

Um, can Bore Me Up not jump please?

I don't think I Like You is ever gonna leave.

MFASR finally left the top #5.

Star Walkin' and Forget Me entered the top 5. I'm happy for the former, and not so much for the latter.

And of course Taylor Overrated Swift is still #1. And it's probably going to stay #1 for the rest of the year because of the end of year slowdowns. This song really needs to leave #1 soon or I'm gonna hate it.

Well, I guess that's all for now, see you all next week!
