Lizzo (1) - Week Of July 30, 2022

Hey guys, what's up? This was a historic countdown, which I will get into later. This was a pretty good week. 2 great debuts, 2 horrible songs left, and a new #1. Before we get to this week's fresh 30, let's say goodbye to the songs leaving the countdown.

Countdown Extra: American Psycho - Marshmello, Mae Muller, Trippie Redd

Biggest Jump Of The Week: BREAK MY SOUL - Beyoncé (+7). This song is amazing and needs to be higher.

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Until I Found You - Stephen Sanchez (-6). This song has had a bizarre countdown run. It left and re-entered. Then had the biggest jump of the week, then 2 weeks later has the biggest drop of the week.

Debuts:

After being in the abyss for a few weeks, Vegas by Doja Cat finally debuted. This song is amazing. It's on the soundtrack of the Elvis movie, and it samples Hound Dog by Elvis. The production is amazing and Doja's flow is amazing.

Panic At The Disco is back after the failure of Viva Las Vengeance with Middle Of A Breakup. This song is way better than VLV. It's just super fun and there's not a key change every 5 seconds, and Brendon sounds great as always.

Last Year's #1: good 4 u - Olivia Rodrigo (9/9 weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Say So - Masked Wolf

Least favorite song last year: NDA - Billie Eilish

Most missed countdown song: Panini - Lil Nas X (2019)

Most missed hitbound dropout: Beg For You - Charli XCX/Rina Sawayama (2022)

Throwback pick: Bang - Anitta (2015)

Hitbound:

TV - Billie Eilish (Debut)

SUMMER RENAISSANCE - Beyoncé (Debut)

Bad Habit - Steve Lacy (Debut)

American Psycho - Marshmello, Mae Muller, Trippie Redd (Debut)

Drowsy - OHNO (Debut)

Someone to Blame - Dixie

I WON'T - AJR (Debut)

Snap - Rosa Linn (Debut)

Are You Entertained - Russ, Ed Sheeran

Life Sux - Leah Kate (Debut)

die first - Nessa Barrett (re-entry)

Valley of Lies - TOMORROW X TOGETHER, iann dior

Victoria's Secret - Jax

Booty - Saucy Santana, Latto

Becky's So Hot - FLETCHER

Grand - Kane Brown

Wow, 8 new entrants and 1 re-entry. Let's get into it.

Billie Eilish replaced herself with TV. TV and The 30th sound exactly the same. The production is boring and nonexistent, and Billie sounds horrible.

Beyonce's new album released Friday, and we have Summer Renaissance. This song is such a bop. It samples I Feel Love by Donna Summer, which Sam Smith made a cover of. The production and Beyonce just sound amazing.

Next is Bad Habit by Steve Lacy., not to be confused with Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran. This song's pretty good. The production is kinda strange but it's still good.

This next song was last week's song of the week, but it wasn't even released yet. Marshmello, Mae Muller, and Trippie Redd are here with American Psycho. The produciton is a little bit basic but Mae Muller and Trippie Redd both sound good.

Next is Drowsy by OHNO. It's kinda strange but good. OHNO sounds like a better Kid Laroi.

AJR is back with I Won't. This is yet another amazing AJR song. Every AJR song is a bop, and this is no exception.

Next is Snap by Rosa Linn. Apparently she was in Eurovision but lost, but this song got big and made it over here. This song is good but a bit basic, but Rosa Linn sounds pretty good.

Leah Kate is back with Life Sux. This is like 10 Things I Hate About You but 100 times better. This is such a punk rock anthem. The production is just super fun.

die first by Nessa Barrett re-entered hitbound. The production is a bit basic but it's still good.

Exits:

The 30th - Billie Eilish

Stay With Me - Calvin Harris, Halsey, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake

Betty (Get Money) - Yung Gravy

Disaster - Conan Gray

the idea - blackbear

Middle Of A Breakup - Panic! At The Disco

Baby Boo - Muni Long, Saweetie

BLENDER - 5 Seconds of Summer

Breakfast - Dove Cameron

The 30th was terrible and deserves to be gone. Stay With Me was amazing and deserved better. Disaster, Baby Boo, BLENDER, the idea, and Breakfast were just okay. Betty (Get Money) finds itself in the abyss.

Abyss:

Daylight - Harry Styles

Music For a Sushi Restaurant - Harry Styles

Unstoppable - Sia

Don't You Worry - Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, David Guetta

Life's Too Short - aespa

Betty (Get Money) - Yung Gravy

Flowers - Lauren Spencer-Smith

WAIT FOR U - Future, Drake, Tems

Wasted On You - Morgan Wallen

SUBSTANCE - Demi Lovato

Get Into It (Yuh) - Doja Cat

I Ain’t Worried - OneRepublic

Make-up blurb in the middle of a breakup:

We had 2 exits, Love Me More and Thousand Miles. Love Me More was horrible, so I'm glad it's gone. Thousand Miles was good then it got super boring so I don't mind that it's gone.

đŸ‘” fell 4 spots but ⛪ gained 2 spots.

How is Numb Little Bug still here, and how did it jump a spot?

Um, how did Ass It Was jump up 4 spots despite being last in airplay?

Boyfriend has been here for 22 weeks, how is it still #12?

Left and Right got a big 6 spot jump.

Maybe You're The Problem was an amazing song, but now it's overplayed and really annoying. Same with Bones.

Now to talk about our new historic #1 song. Do you know how long it's been since a black woman has been #1 on the countdown? 10 years! It was We Are Young with fun and Janelle MonĂĄe back in 2012. And you know the last time a solo black female has been #1. 14 years! It was Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis in 2008. Lizzo's About Damn Time is the first time in 14 years a solo black female has been #1 on the countdown. I could go on a big long rant about how Hits 1 needs to do better. But I'm not. I'm just gonna celebrate that we finally have a black woman at #1. And for Hits 1, do better, and don't make it another 14 years for another black woman to hit #1. As for the song itself, I used to like this song. Then it got overplayed and really annoying, so it's just okay, but I'm still glad it's #1.

Bye for now, see you all next week!

If The Countdown Was Still 45 Songs - Week Of July 30, 2022

This is what I think the countdown would look like if it was still 45 songs long, based on airplay (https://www.allaccess.com/mediabase/q/report/playlist/station/S001-FM) and my personal opinion.

Video - Ke$ha Weekend Countdown History | 2011-2020

I made a video on the weekend countdown history for Ke$ha from 2011-2020. Songs before 2011 won't be included because countdown data before that is sparse. Enjoy!

The Most Spammed Post - Nicky Youre (3) - Week Of July 23, 2022

Hey everyone, what's up? One announcement. I did a 2021 Ultimate Rank. Basically, I ranked all 290 songs from hitbound and the countdown from 2021 on how well they did on Hits 1. Check it out on my header or click here. This was a fairly good week. 2 annoying songs left the countdown, there was one amazing debut and one questionable debut, and Nicky Youre managed to ward off Harry Styles for now. Before we get to this week's fresh 30, let's say goodbye to the songs leaving the countdown:

Sweetest Pie - Megan The Stallion, Dua Lipa (#25)

10 things i hate about you - Leah Kate (#18)

Last week's #1 song: SUNROOF - Nicky Youre, dazy (2 weeks at #1)

30: Easy Lover - Ellie Goulding, Big Sean (Debut)

29: Numb Little Bug - Em Beihold (-1)

28: Glimpse of Us - Joji ⛪(+2)

27: Massive - Drake (+2)

26: i feel everything - Amelia Moore (=)

25: sheluvme - Tai Verdes (-2)

24: Love Me More - Sam Smith (-5)

23: BREAK MY SOUL - BeyoncĂ© (+4)

22: Devil Doesn't Bargain - Alec Benjamin (+2)

21: Potion - Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Young Thug (-13)

20: So Good - Halsey (+2)

19: Left and Right - Charlie Puth, Jung Kook (+1)

18: First Class - Jack Harlow (+3)

17: Thousand Miles - The Kid LAROI (=)

16: Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush đŸ‘”(Debut)

15: As It Was - Harry Styles (-4) (8 weeks at #1)

14: Numb - Marshmello, Khalid (+2)

13: Me, Myself & I - 5 Seconds Of Summer (=)

12: Boyfriend - Dove Cameron (-2)

11: Until I Found You - Stephen Sanchez (+4)

10: Out Of Time - The Weeknd (+2)

9: 2step - Ed Sheeran, Lil Baby (-5)

8: SUPERMODEL - MĂ„neskin (-1)

7: I Like You (A Happier Song) - Post Malone, Doja Cat (+7)

6: Bones - Imagine Dragons (+3)

5: Maybe You're The Problem - Ava Max (+1)

4: When You're Gone - Shawn Mendes (=)

3: About Damn Time - Lizzo (-1)

2: Late Night Talking - Harry Styles (+1)

1: SUNROOF - Nicky Youre, dazy (=) (3 weeks at #1)

Countdown extra: the idea - blackbear

Biggest Jump Of The Week: I Like You (A Happier Song) - Post Malone, Doja Cat (+7). This song is good albeit starting to get annoying.

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Potion - Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Young Thug (-13). This song is good but super forgettable.

Debuts:

Ellie Goulding is back on Hits 1 after 3 years with Easy Lover. This song is incredible. The production and Ellie Goulding sound fantastic, and Big Sean's verse fits in perfectly.

Now we have the most questionable debut, Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush. So this song came out in 1985 and got popular due to Stranger Things. C'mon Hits 1, I know other stations are playing this, but you could have been the bigger man and not let this debut. This song is really bad. The production is strange and slow, and Kate Bush does not sound good. And this song is nearly 5 minutes long, it just goes on forever! I thought this was supposed to be today's pop hits, not pop hits from 37 years ago! There are thousands of 80s songs that are better than this. Why did this have to become so popular?

Valley of Lies - TOMORROW X TOGETHER, iann dior (Debut)

Yay, more Billie Eilish, because that's what everybody wanted (not). She is back with The 30th. This is absolutely terrible. The production is non-existent, and Billie is whisper singing and sounds terrible. This is basically Your Power 2.0. Can this not become a hit, please?

Yay, Betty (Get Money) came back!

Russ and Ed Sheeran collabed to make Are You Entertained. This song is not good. The production is super obnoxious, and Russ sounds terrible. Ed is the only saving grace of the song.

I thought Yall Life by Walker Hayes would debut hitbound, but we got another country trap song instead. Kane Brown is back with Grand. This song's okay. The production's okay and Kane Brown sounds less obnoxious than Walker Hayes.

Panic! At The Disco is back after the disaster of Viva Las Vengeance. This is way better than Viva Las Vengeance. There's an actual melody and there's not a key change every 5 seconds. Hopefully this does well.

Remember Fletcher? She's back with Becky's So Hot. This song's okay. The production is cool but it's super forgettable.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER is back after the failure of PS5, and teamed up with iann dior to make Valley of Lies. This song is just okay. The production is good, iann dior sounds good, but it's not that memorable.

Easy Lover - Ellie Goulding, Big Sean

WAIT FOR U - Future, Drake, Tems

Jiggle Jiggle, Dress, and 2 Be Loved Are Gone. It sucks Jiggle Jiggle never got another chance, but the other 2 I couldn't care less. Easy Lover debuted, while Substance and Wait For U find themselves in the abyss.

Abyss:

Substance - Demi Lovato

WAIT FOR U - Future, Drake, Tems

Wasted On You - Morgan Wallen đŸ€

Life's Too Short - aespa

Daylight - Harry Styles

I Ain't Worried - OneRepublic

Music For A Sushi Restaurant - Harry Styles

Want Want - Maggie Rogers

Running up that blurb:

This week we lost Sweetest Pie and 10 things i hate about you. They were both super annoying so I'm glad they're gone.

Love Me More is the most boring generic song ever. How is this even here?

Can ⛪and đŸ‘” go away please?

Bones, Out Of Time, and Maybe You're The Problem are starting to get really annoying.

How is Numb Little Bug still here? It should have left like a month ago.

Boyfriend has been here way too long.

i feel everything has only jumped 4 spots since its debut. I think it'll quickly leave after it's done being the 1TW.

Yay, Sunroof is still #1! But Late Night Talking jumped to #2 so it'll probably be #1 next week.

Bye for now, see you all next week!

ROLE MODEL (1) - Week of July 5, 2025

Finally, we have a new #1 this week! Before we get to this week's fresh 30, let's say goodbye to the songs leaving the countdown: ...
