Debuts:

Well, ladies and gentlemen, after a year of not having any orange songs on the countdown, that streak is finally broken. I was really hoping Hits 1 wouldn't let this song debut and let it rot in the abyss instead, but unfortunately that's not the case. Some random 5 year old Charli XCX song called party 4 u debuted. Apparently this is trending on TikTok and just now got popular. I have no idea how this is trending on TikTok, because this song is so damn boring and repetitive. I normally love Charli XCX. She's had some great hits over the years. But party 4 u ain't it. This song is so incredibly boring. The production is just some super generic trap beat, and Charli has a super obnoxious autotune over her voice. And the last half of the song is literally just her repeating "party on you" over and over. Good riddance to this song, and hopefully this song goes away sooner rather than later.

On a more positive note, Maroon 5 aka the Adam Levine solo experience finally return to the countdown since Beautiful Mistakes in 2021. I think it's kinda funny that Maroon 5 has become so irrelevant, they can't get solo hits anymore and have to rely on collabing with popular artists to stay relevant. They had to collab with Megan Thee Stallion on Beautiful Mistakes, and this time they collabed with LISA on Priceless. Anyways for the song itself, this is finally a long-awaited banger from Maroon 5. The production is really fun and Adam and LISA both sound great as always.

And because this week wasn't weird enough, Sailor Song has reentered for some unexplained reason. Honestly I'm not even mad anymore, it's just becoming comical at this point. I literally cannot escape this song even if I tried. I guess Hits 1 just likes torturing me. After listening to party 4 u, Sailor Song sounds like the world's most upbeat song in comparison. This is just gonna end up leaving next week so I'm not sure why Hits 1 keeps letting these random old songs reenter.

We have another song called Messy this year, this time by ROSÉ, from the F1 movie soundtrack. I'm not normally a big fan of soundtrack music, and this is no exception. ROSÉ sounds good here, but the production is just so insanely generic.

Avril Lavigne has collabed with 2000s pop punk band Simple Plan with Young & Dumb. Simple Plan were last seen on Hits 1 all the way back in 2008 when Your Love Is a Lie was on the countdown. This is a fun little pop punk song and Avril and Simple Plan singer Pierre Bouvier sound great as always.

Ugh, can Hits 1 please stop picking up on every Jon Bellion song? I thought WASH caused him to get washed, but I guess not, because he's back yet again this time with Pharrell Williams with HOROSCOPE. Yeah, this song sucks so hard. The production is super boring and very JVKE-core, not in a good way. Pharrell's verse towards the middle of the song is the only "good" part of this song.

Oh joy, another overrated artist Maren Morris is here with lemonade. Luckily this is one of her more tolerable songs. The country production is pretty fun and I appreciate all the lemonade puns throughout the song.

Welp, after spending a whopping 2 weeks on the countdown last year, d4vd's Feel It has randomly reentered hitbound. Apparently it's trending again because it was on some show called Invincible. I can't really find any more information about this song. For the song itself, this has grown on me a lot since last year so I'm fine with this being back.

Lastly, Damiano David finally made a banger for once with Voices. This seems to sample, or at the very least take heavy inspiration from, John Newman's 2013 hit Love Me Again. The production here is amazing and Damiano sounds great as per usual.

Exits:

  • Hayes Warner - Threw Me Away [5]
  • The Summer Set - ADIDAS [4]
  • Knox - Going, Going, Gone [5]
  • Myles Smith - My First Heartbreak [2]
  • Lauren Spencer Smith - IF KARMA DOESN'T GET YOU (I WILL) [2]

Going, Going, Gone and ADIDAS will be missed. The rest were super mid.

unblurbed:

We lost Pretty Ugly, Nice To Meet You (again), and WILDFLOWER (for a third time). Literally none of these exits make sense. Pretty Ugly was pretty mid, but it could have lasted a bit longer. And Hits 1 apparently still doesn't know what to do with Nice To Meet You and WILDFLOWER since they left just a few weeks after reentering. They're both doing well on pop radio, so I'm not sure why they left. It would be hilarious if WILDFLOWER reentered again, making it the first ever song on Hits 1 to have 4 different countdown runs.

NOKIA is just gonna rot in the bottom spot its entire run, isn't it?

like JENNIE is also back to rotting in the bottom 5.

What Was That really did not need to drop a spot.

Finally, it's about damn time Good News had a big drop.

Just when we thought we were done with Messy, it has reentered the top 10.

Ugh, Busy Woman is already up to #4 and is almost certainly going #1 in the next few weeks. On the other hand, nice to see Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else in the top 5 even if it's starting to get old as well.

toxic till the end has been blocked yet again from #1 for a 5th week in a row now. This really needs to drop big soon because this doesn't need to be all the way at #2.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
