Debuts:
After dropping out of hitbound back in May, and randomly entering the abyss a month ago, All The Way finally debuts. This is pretty good. The country trap production is pretty upbeat and BigXthaPlug's rapping somehow works well with Bailey Zimmerman's country voice.
Hits 1 is back to picking up on random AJR non-singles now. After entering the abyss last week, The Big Goodbye debuts this week. I'm usually a huge AJR stan, but I'm not really feeling this song. This song is great don't get me wrong, Jack Met's voice is amazing as always, but this song seems very forgettable and is over 5 minutes long and seems to drag on forever. This just isn't nearly as amazing as Betty.
R&B singer Leon Thomas makes his first Hits 1 appearance with MUTT after being in the abyss for 2 months. This is just alright. The R&B production is very forgettable and this guy's voice sounds very weird.
Countdown Extra: The Chainsmokers - Smooth
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Lady Gaga - The Dead Dance [+12]
Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Tie between Conan Gray - Vodka Cranberry and Sabrina Carpenter - Manchild [-7]

Doja Cat just released her 80s inspired album Vie, and she's here with Gorgeous. This isn't nearly as good as Jealous Type. Doja's singing and rapping sound good, but this production is a bit basic and seems forgettable.
It's been a very hot minute since we last heard from 5 Seconds of Summer. They had a feature on Galantis' Lighter last year, but they haven't had a solo song on Hits 1 since 2022, which seems hard to believe. They debut this week with NOT OK. I really love the alt rock production here, and the boys sound great as always. Hopefully this ends up being a big hit.
Wait, hold the phone, did Alessi Rose just release an amazing song for once in her life. She's back on Hitbound for the billionth time with First Original Thought. This is easily her best so far. The dance pop production is really fun and she sounds great here.
Great, just when Tate McRae was starting to become good, she went back to being Tate MidRae. She's here with TIT FOR TAT, which apparently she only wrote 2 weeks ago on Sep 11. This song is not great at all. The production is just some insanely generic trap beat and Tate does not sound good here. Can this not become a hit please?

- Thomas Day - she got a thing about her [9; 2nd time]
- flowerovlove - I'm your first [3]

I'm blurbing to Saskatchewan:
We lost party 4 u (again), Ordinary, and Same Mouth. I'll say good riddance to all these songs. Same Mouth was just basic girly pop that stuck around way too long. Ordinary stuck around way too long as well and did not deserve to be the song of the summer, it doesn't even sound like a summer song. And a special good riddance to party 4 u. It was extremely boring and did not deserve to reenter at all.
With party 4 u gone, I no longer have an orange song on the countdown again since May.
Omg Folded finally escaped the bottom 5 after 2 months. Congrats, I guess?
Nice to see The Dead Dance getting a huge jump.
back to friends jumped 10 spots into the top 10. This really needs to leave to make room for 12 to 12 instead.
Finally, I didn't think Manchild would ever leave the #2 spot.
Welp, Tears jumped to #2 this week, so it's almost certainly hitting #1 next week unless some miracle happens.
That's all for now, see you all next week!

ReplyDeleteHalsey - Bad At Love (154,489 points)

not it being bigger than Perfect, Roar, Rolling In The Deep and Firework. and not Love Runs Out being bigger than all of those.
DeleteHas Katy Perry ever had a Hits 1 #1?
I also figured out that if Good Girls had the same run on pop, it would be bigger than One Sweet Day.
