Debuts:
ROLE MODEL is back on the countdown with Writing's On The Wall. This song is super fun. This isn't as great as Sally, When The Wine Runs Out, but it's still really fun and I'm really glad it made the countdown.

We have a brand new girl group and boy group debuting this week. First up is girl group GIRLSET who were apparently on some reality show, are here with Little Miss. This song actually goes kinda hard. This has some mid 2000s Pussycat Doll vibes. I wouldn't mind if this ended up becoming a hit.
We have boy group JYT, which stands for Just Your type, debuting with What U Want. This song is good, just kinda forgettable. The production is pretty upbeat but not very memorable.
It's been a hot minute since we've heard from NF. We haven't seen him since HAPPY was on the countdown in 2023. He debuts hitbound with FEAR. This is yet another banger from him. This reminds me a lot of HAPPY. The production is really cool, and NF's rapping is great as always. Hopefully this ends up making the countdown.
Eww, I have no idea what I just listened to. Emei debuts hitbound with some weird ass song called Ginger Tea. What happened to her? Crazy Stupid Love and Love Me Not were great songs. There's literally no production at all on this song. It's just her singing in a whispery voice, and she sounds terrible. There's a 0% chance this makes the countdown.
In Color replace themselves with Lighter. Luckily this is a big step up from Headlights. The production is a lot more upbeat, but this is still kinda forgettable.
5 Seconds Of Summer replace themselves with I'm Scared I'll Never Sleep Again. This is a big step down from Everyone's A Star. The production is just very strange, and the boys have weird effects on their voices that doesn't sound that great.
Exits:
- Lewis Capaldi - The Day That I Die [5]
- Katy Perry - bandaids [6]
- Izzy Escobar - Jackie O [1]
- In Color - Headlights [8]
- 5 Seconds Of Summer - Everyone's A Star! [5]
So much for Katy Perry's big "comeback" song. The rest of the songs won't be missed.
2026 total dropouts: 7
Estimated total for 2026: 121 (+69)
Abyss
MOLIY/Silent Addy/Skillibeng/Shenseea - Shake It To The Max (FLY) (Remix) [2]
Jackson Wang - Made Me A Man [3]
Jonas Brothers - Backwards [4]
Sabrina Carpenter - When Did You Get Hot? [8]
With Lemonade gone, we're now down to only 4 abyss songs.
I'd rather be a blurbimist:
Just one exit this week, MUTT. Good riddance, this song was super weird and boring and just rotted in the bottom 5 for most its run. I have no idea how this lasted 3 months.
Can Lover Girl please stop flopping.
Camera really did not need to jump so high back in the top 10.
How is Vodka Cranberry almost in the top 5? And why did it take 5 months to peak so high?
Opalite jumped to #3. It will probably be #1 next whenever The Fate of Ophelia leaves #1, meaning WHERE IS MY HUSBAND will probably end up being blocked from #1 unfortunately.
Week #4 of being confused as to why The Fate of Ophelia still has so little airplay. It literally went down in airplay to #15. Opalite overtook it in airplay, which is kinda funny. Maybe Hits 1 is limiting its airplay on purpose so we don't get tired of it. IDK, but it's working, because I'm not tired of this song, yet anyways.
That's all for now, see you all next week!

Guys let’s pray that hits 1 finally kills the abyss and whatever song that leaves the station will either leave the station or enter the countdown 🙏
ReplyDelete"There are only 4 songs in the abyss" NOT SO FAST! Jackie O got played outside of HitBound. It was only played once but it was a random play so maybe it goes in the abyss. It'll probably get played more too.
ReplyDeleteanyways you would love my Charlie Puth rant on my week-late Pulse Countdown post.
DeleteI'm not counting 1 spin outside of hitbound as being in the abyss. Maybe if it starts getting more spins.

How many points does Lush Life have if it was on the countdown? It’s getting popular again and could re-enter next year if it continues getting repopularized.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean how many points would it have if it was on the countdown? I don't think Hits 1 has ever played Lush Life.
DeleteOh they haven’t? It seems like something they would play, and it was #37 on pop.
DeleteHits 1 never picked up on it
DeleteIn 2016 they were too busy picking up on random Panic! At The Disco and 5 Seconds of Summer songs instead of songs that had almost 2 billion streams on Spotify.
