Debuts:
We finally have the long awaited return of Kygo to the countdown with a collab with Khalid and Gryffin with Save My Love. Kygo hasn't been on the countdown since Dancing Feet in 2022. This is a nice little EDM song, it has a great drop, and Khalid sounds great, but this is still a bit on the generic side. Maybe it will end up growing on me.
Finally making its way out of the abyss, Pitbull and Lil Jon form to make JUMPIN 2.0, aka Damn I Love Miami. This song is extremely fun and I'm really glad it ended up debuting. But unfortunately this is probably going to flop hard.
Oh god, I was really hoping these next 2 songs would not debut, but they unfortunately have. First up is the "better" of the 2. After dropping out of hitbound and spending a few weeks in the abyss, A Couple Minutes finally debuts. Yeah, this song is garbage. The production is extremely slow and repetitive. It's some weird boring jazz production that doesn't evolve at all. And Olivia sounds like complete garbage. How on earth is this even a hit?
Ugh, I really did not want to have to talk about this guy, but it looks like I have to now. Bad Bunny makes his first ever appearance on the countdown with DtMF, since Hits 1 edited him out on their "exclusive" 2 minute edit of Cardi B's I Like It in 2018. I've never had to talk about Bad Bunny before on this blog, but I absolutely cannot stand the guy. Let's address the obvious reason - his voice. His voice is complete garbage. There's been several artists over the years that make me want to slam my head against a wall anytime I hear them, but at least they make some kind of attempt to sing. Bad Bunny doesn't even try to sing. Literally all he does is talk with some garbage autotune over it. And the beat on this song is super repetitive. It's just the same Latin beat over and over. Let's pray this song flops hard, or I'm going to have some very choice words with Hits 1.

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Olivia Dean - So Easy (To Fall In Love) [+5]
Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: A pathetic, 3 way tie between Taylor Swift - The Fate of Ophelia, RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!, and Taylor Swift - Opalite [-1] Woah, that's a record.

Alex Warren is here with his latest song FEVER DREAM. Wow, he made a great song for once since Bloodline. The production is super catchy and Alex sounds great. Hopefully this ends up debuting, and I'm pretty certain it will.
Bruno Mars has just released his first solo album in 10 years The Romantic. We have the second single from it Risk It All. Ugh, why is this the next single? This is just some forgettable ballad that's so insanely boring. I just love that one of the Spotify tags for this song says "music for soccer moms", which is perfect. Only soccer moms would enjoy this ballad.
After dropping out of hitbound last month, FEAR has reentered. This is an amazing song, and hopefully it ends up making the countdown on its second run.
We have the second single from RAYE's upcoming album called Nightingale Lane. This is solid. It has some interesting jazz R&B production, otherwise this is pretty forgettable. Not nearly as great as WHERE IS MY HUSBAND.
Um, what on earth is this next song? A random Dominic Fike song from 2018 called Babydoll is starting to trend. I don't know if I can even call this a "song", more like a song fragment. It's only 1:38 long. It's actually the 3rd shortest song Hits 1 has ever picked up on. It's only 1 second longer than Jiggle Jiggle, and 3 seconds longer than I Can't Go Back To The Way It Was. Despite the short length, this song kinda slaps. I just wish it was an actual song. It ends right when it starts getting interesting.
After Lover Girl flopped on the countdown, Laufey is back with How I Get. What the heck did I just listen to? This is way too overproduced and extremely boring. Lover Girl and Tough Luck were incredible songs, how did she regress so much? I know I said the same thing about Tough Luck when it first debuted hitbound, and that ended up growing on me, but I highly doubt this will grow on me.
BLACKPINK just released their new EP called DEADLINE, and they're here with GO. This song slaps so hard. It has a dubstep beat that goes hard, and the girls sound great as always. Hopefully this ends up becoming a hit.
Exits:
- Meghan Trainor - Get In Girl [2]
- STELLA LEFTY - Thinking 'bout You [5]

- Maisie Peters - My Regards [3]
- KPop Demon Hunters Cast - How It's Done [1]
None of these seem to be in the abyss yet. But I expect at least one of these songs to enter the abyss at some point.

Nightingale Blurbs:
We lost YUKON, Internet Girl, Golden, and Man I Need. Golden had an incredible run but it really needed to leave like 2 months ago. Man I Need got really old so I'm glad that finally left. Internet Girl slapped but it was starting to get kinda annoying. And I think it's time to bring back the special obituary for YUKON.
Justin Bieber - YUKON made its countdown debut on October 25, 2025. It lived a debatably-good 4 and a half month life for some reason. Never aspiring for greatness, YUKON became a shining example of “be happy with what you have”. It never ascended higher than the #26 spot on the countdown. Though it was never loved enough to see the countdown's top half, it never once complained. This lends credence to the idea that a positive attitude has a definite impact on longevity. The Hits-1 voters never over-the-top appreciated it, and quite frankly neither did I, but a very modest number of people apparently consistently loved it for what it was. Isn't that all any of us aspire for? Its lasting presence on the countdown did not go unnoticed, as a certain Hits-1 countdown recapper dedicated some of his precious Blurb space each week to discuss amazement at how it lasted so long. I won't go so far as to say YUKON will be missed. In fact, it certainly won't be. But we now find ourselves in a world in which there's one fewer thing that doesn’t make any sense and can't be explained by human logic, and well, that quite frankly ruins some of the magic of being alive. Good-bye YUKON. It’s been real (not!).
Geeze, the biggest drop on the countdown was a pitiful 1 spot. As far as I know, that is a record. The smallest biggest drop I could find was when several songs dropped 2 spots in 2022. And then in 2021, there was a week where the smallest biggest jump was only +1. So we finally have a week where the biggest drop was only -1, and another week where the biggest jump was only +1.
Woah, 12 to 12 jumped to #3. But I think it's a bit too late for this is reach #1, especially with I Just Might increasing in popularity.
Finally, it's about damn time I Just Might went #1! I was getting worried for a minute. I thought Taylor would block him from #1 forever. But not even Taylor can hold him from #1 forever. I can see this song lasting a whole lot longer at #1.
That's all for now, see you all next week!

Poll of the week:
I Wanna Stay I thought was gonna debut HitBound this week but it didn’t happen. I honestly think because the artist isn’t known enough to debut HitBound
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you think they’re capping the number of HitBound debuts to 6 this year? If so, who do you think so. I mean 14 songs were teased and less than half of them debuted
ReplyDeleteHits 1 probably realizes they have a hitbound dropout problem, because we went from only having 20-30 hitbound dropouts per year, and now we're having 150+ hitbound dropouts per year.
DeleteAnd because of that, they’re trying to cap it and go back to like it was?
DeleteI would assume so.
DeleteHow has the oldest song on the countdown not even surpassed the bottom half? (Possibly next obituary?)
ReplyDeleteWhat songs has tit for tat surpassed?
ReplyDeleteDo you think they’re trying to avoid reentries again this year as MUTT despite having a lot of spins didn’t reenter last week and Still Don’t Care which had a lot of spins but didn’t reenter this week? They did that in the past few weeks of the 45 song countdown
