Debuts:
BTS finally make their first appearance on the countdown in 5 years since their feature on Coldplay's My Universe in late 2021. SWIM is a big disappointment. The production is boring and very forgettable. But at least the boys sound somewhat good here.
Niall Horan brings his second song on the countdown called Dinner Party. Ugh, why are both his songs super forgettable? Can this flop please? This is super boring and shouldn't be anywhere near the radio.
Finally we have some great debuts after 2 mediocre ones. Bella Kay's iloveitiloveitiloveit finally makes its way out of the abyss. I hated this song when it first debuted hitbound, but then it just randomly grew on me. This song is just super catchy, and Bella sounds really good here.
Dominic Fike's Babydoll also finally makes its way out of the abyss. I'm super glad this debuted. I don't know if I can even call this a "song", it's more like a song fragment. It's the second ever shortest song that's been on the countdown. It's only 1 second longer than Jiggle Jiggle at 1:38. This song is just so stupidly fun, but I wish it was a bit longer, because it ends right when it starts to get interesting. In any case, I hope this song ends up doing well.
Countdown Extra: Twenty One Pilots - Drag Path
Biggest Jump Of The Week: PinkPantheress/Zara Larsson - Stateside [+9]
Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Harry Styles - Aperture [-5]
Last year's #1 song: Sabrina Carpenter - Bed Chem (1/1 week at #1)
Favorite song last year: Dove Cameron - Too Much
Least favorite song last year: Max McNown - A Lot More Free
Most missed song: Cody Simpson - Pretty Brown Eyes (2013)
Recommendation for Hits 1: RAYE/Amma/Absolutely - Joy.

Wow, 8 debuts! We better get started then.
RAYE replaces herself with I Know You're Hurting. Ugh, why did this have to be the next single? Joy is so much better, it should have been the next single instead. I really don't want to have to give RAYE the orange song treatment, but I have to. This song is just way too long and boring. Hits 1 didn't even edit it down. They played the entire 6 minute version. Maybe this song wouldn't be so bad if they played a shorter version of it.
Charlie Puth just released his new album Whatever's Clever, and he collabs with Coco Jones on Sideways, who you might remember from that weird Owen Cutts remix of ICU that Hits 1 picked up on. Meh, this song is pretty boring and forgettable. But at least Charlie and Coco sound good I guess.
It looks like we have another song called Sideways, this time it's from ZAYN. This one isn't great either. The R&B production is pretty forgettable but ZAYN sounds good like he usually does.
Cody Simpson is still alive? He had had a song on the countdown all the way back in 2013 called Pretty Brown Eyes, and another one in 2015 called New Problems. Baby Blue is solid. The production is pretty upbeat, but slightly generic, and Cody sounds pretty good.
Miley Cyrus released her new song Younger You for the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana. This song is about her talking to her younger self. I mean, the lyrics are nice, but this song is kinda boring.
Conan Gray is here with The Best. The song title is very misleading, this is not the best Conan Gray song. The production starts off extremely boring, but picks up a lot in the second half. IDK, I think I prefer Vodka Cranberry more. The Best is somehow even more mid than that.
Oh god, we really did not need more Melanie Martinez. VOID was an extremely weird song, but fortunately UNCANNY VALLEY is a pretty normal song, or at least normal for her standards. The production has a cool alt feel, and Melanie sounds good. Let's see if this ends up growing on me.
Lastly, we have more Vella, because apparently we didn't have enough Hits 1 plants in hitbound. Dance Without You is actually really fun. But I don't think it's as great as All My Love. Hopefully if this ends up debuting, it doesn't flop as hard as All My Love.
Exits:
- Laufey - How I Get [4]
- Paul Russell - High Maintenance [6; 2nd time]
- RAYE/Hans Zimmer - Click Clack Symphony. [1]
- Twenty One Pilots - Drag Path [5]
- Jack Harlow - Lonesome [2]
- flowerovlove - Casual Lady [5]
RIP to High Maintenance again, it should have debuted the countdown on its second run. Drag Path finds itself in the abyss. And everything else won't be missed.
2026 total dropouts: 53

My money don't jiggle jiggle, it blurbs:
We lost Mr Electric Blue, Gone Gone Gone, DtMF, and Damn I Love Miami. Good riddance to DtMF. Luckily it ended up flopping hard. Gone Gone Gone was super old and really needed to leave. Mr Electric Blue was also starting to get old, but it could have at least lasted a few weeks longer. And RIP to Damn I Love Miami, but I was correct when I said this would end up flopping hard.
Nice to see Roommates rebound after that massive drop last week.
Can The Visitor and A Couple Minutes please stop jumping?
Hits 1 has started to play the JENNIE remix of Tame Impala's Dracula, but hasn't switched to it on the countdown. Which is good, because the JENNIE remix is trash and ruins an amazing song.
Um, how is Drive Safe in the top 10? This isn't a hit anywhere outside of Hits 1.
I'm not too thrilled about The Great Divide being in the top 10 either.
Nice to see When Did You Get Hot rebound back to the top 10. Of course Sabrina's one amazing song refuses to go #1, but hopefully it will soon.
RIP to Homewrecker's chances at #1. But it's still in the top 5, so there's still a chance it can go #1.
This is now WHERE IS MY HUSBAND's 4th time being blocked from #1. Can it finally reach #1 next week? Well maybe, but I don't think so. This song is already super old at this point.
That's all for now, see you all next week!
