Debuts:

We finally have more solo Dua Lipa after Love Again 2 years ago with Dance The Night. And this is nothing short of amazing. The disco style production is amazing and super catchy and Dua sounds amazing as always.

Lauren Spencer-Smith is back with That Part. This is pretty good. The production is pretty upbeat and Lauren sounds good.

Icandy makes her Hits 1 debut with Keep Dat. This song is very strange but it kinda slaps. The production is really fun and Icandy sounds good.

Countdown Extra: OneRepublic - Runaway

Biggest Jump Of The Week: FIFTY FIFTY - Cupid (Twin Ver.) (+9)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Kane Brown/Katelyn Brown - Thank God (-10)

Last year's #1 song: Harry Styles - As It Was (4/8 long and overrated weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Doja Cat - Get into it (Yuh)

Least favorite song last year: Jnr Choi/Sam Tompkins - TO THE MOON

Most missed song: Hanson - MMMBop (1997)

Hitbound:

Maroon 5 - Middle Ground {3}

The Weeknd/Playboi Carti/Madonna - Popular (Debut)

Jonas Brothers - Summer Baby {3}

Ed Sheeran - A Beautiful Game (Debut)

Crash Adams - Lucky (Debut)

Ice Spice/Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana {5}

OneRepublic - Runaway {2} SOTW

Lewis Capaldi - Have You Ever Been in Love Before? {3}

Dua Lipa - Dance The Night {SB}

Towa Bird - Wild Heart (Debut)

Kodak Black/NLE Choppa/Jimin/JVKE/Muni Long - Angel Part 1 {3}

Presley Regier - Nevermind {6}

Pitbull/Lil Jon - JUMPIN {4}

The Weeknd, Playboi Carti (who makes his Hits 1 debut), and Madonna (who returns to Hits 1 after her hitbound dropout Give Me All Your Luvin' in 2012) team up to make Popular. This is pretty good. The production is pretty catchy and everyone sounds great.

Ed Sheeran released a new song for the show Ted Lasso called A Beautiful Game. I usually don't like Ed Sheeran ballads but this is really good. The production is pretty cool and Ed sounds great.

Crash Adams are back with Lucky. This isn't quite as good as Give Me A Kiss but I still like it. The production is really fun and the 2 sound great.

We have someone named Towa Bird with Wild Heart. This is pretty good. I like the pop punk production and her voice is pretty good.

The Chainsmokers are back along with bludnymph with Self Destruction Mode. This is another Chainsmokers banger. The production is really cool, it reminds me a lot of Riptide, and vocals from bludnymph are great.

Exits:

Coco Jones/Owen Cutts - ICU {3}

Kali - Area Codes {2}

Ed Sheeran/Luke Combs - Life Goes On {4}

Lu Kala - Pretty Girl Era {5}

None of these were that great so they won't be missed.

Abyss:

The Weeknd/Ariana Grande - Die For You (Remix)

Avery Anna - Self Love

Rita Ora/Fatboy Slim - Praising You

Gracie Abrams - I know it won't work

NF - Happy

Melanie Martinez - VOID

Halsey - Die 4 Me

Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary

Lizzy McAlpine - ceilings

Conan Gray - Never Ending Song

Miguel - Sure Thing

ILLENIUM/Avril Lavigne/Travis Barker - Eyes Wide Shut

Blurb the night away:

We lost Sure Thing, Never Ending Song, and Eyes Wide Shut. I'm surprised Sure Thing flopped since it's one of the biggest songs right now. Never Ending Song was really good and I hope it can come back and not be a one week wonder. And Eyes Wide Shut was great too and didn't deserve to leave.

Hits 1 switched to the Ice Spice remix of Karma. Her verse doesn't really fit in with the rest of the song but I still like it.

Good riddance it looks like Favorite Song is leaving soon.

I'm surprised Satellite is kinda flopping right now given how well Hits 1 likes Harry.

10:35 is somehow still here even after getting hardly any airplay and not even being on the airplay charts for a few days.

Cinderella Snapped finally entered the top 10.

Are Heaven or Lottery ever gonna leave the top 10?

Chemical is now in the top 5. I really hope this can get #1.

Looks like Waffle House got blocked from #1.

Let's go! Love From The Other Side held onto the #1 spot for a third week. But with Karma jumping to #2, its rein is probably coming to an end.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

If you haven't already noticed I started a poll of the week over on my sidebar. At the end of each week I'll post the results at the end of my countdown posts.

Last week's poll of the week results:

Favorite song in the top 5

Ed Sheeran - Eyes Closed: 37.9% / 11 votes

Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side: 24.1% / 7 votes

Jonas Brothers - Waffle House: 13.8% / 4 votes

Taylor Swift - Karma: 13.8% / 4 votes

Latto/Lu Kala - Lottery: 10.3% / 3 votes

We lost Boy's a liar Pt. 2 and ceilings. ceilings was super boring and I'm not sure how this became a hit, and Boy's a liar was good but was starting to get kinda old.

Can Eyes Wide Shut please do something?

Apparently Hits 1 doesn't know what to do with Double Fantasy because it was the biggest jump last week and now it's the biggest drop.

Give Me A Kiss is finally starting to get a lot more airplay, I really want this to do well.

It finally looks like Cinderella Snapped is gonna do something.

After 13 weeks I'm In Love With You finally enters the top 10.

Let's go! Love From The Other Side is #1 for a second week. I wonder how long this can stay #1 until the Jonas Brothers or Taylor takes over.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

Re-Doing My Top 10 Worst Songs of 2022

Hey guys, what's up? It's been 6 months since I made my worst list for 2022, and a lot of my opinions of songs from that year have changed, so I thought I would go back and update my worst list. If you want to go back and see my old worst list, you can read that here: https://zestpond.blogspot.com/2022/11/my-top-10-worst-songs-of-2022.html.
So without further ado, let's get started with the songs that I took off the worst list.

Lauren Spencer-Smith - Fingers Crossed (was #10)

 This song was super annoying 6 months ago, but listening to it for the first time since then it's actually a decent song. The production is pretty good and while Lauren is oversinging in some parts, she sounds alright.

Post Malone/Doja Cat - I Like You (A Happier Song) (was #8)

This spent over 7 months on the countdown and got super annoying. Hearing it again after a while it's not that bad.

Halsey - So Good (was #5)

Ah yes, the So Boring song. This is boring but it's not that bad.

Joji - Glimpse Of Us ⛪ (was #4)

The song that started the church hymn emoji ⛪. His other song Die For You really grew on me and so did this song.

Imagine Dragons/J.I.D. - Enemy (was #1)

Everybody wants to be my enemeeeeeee. What is this, is the song that I'm famous for hating finally growing on me? This would play on Hits 1 every 5 minutes and it really pissed me off, so much so that I made it my least favorite song of 2022. Now that 6 months have passed and I hear it less frequently, it's actually starting to grow on me again. This song isn't great, but it's not completely vomit inducing either. Maybe I should stop listening to the radio so much.

Alright, with the dropouts out of the way, let's get started with the top, or I guess bottom, 10.

#10: Jack Harlow - First Class
Previous rank: N/A

I really hated this when it came out, but wasn't quite bad enough to make my original list. And then hearing it again a year later I remember why it was so bad. The production is super boring and non-existent. And Jack Harlow sounds terrible. He's doing this weird talking rap throughout the whole song and it sounds awful. Terrible song that should have made my original worst list.

#9: Jnr Choi/Sam Tompkins - TO THE MOON

Previous rank: Dishonorable Mention #1

Whoever thought it was a good idea to bring drill music to pop radio should be fired immediately. This song sucks in so many ways. The production is super annoying. And Jnr Choi sounds terrible. He sounds like he's spitting into the mic. And he really needed to charge his phone before he screenshotted that album cover.

#8: Adele - Oh My God

Previous Rank: Dishonorable Mention #4

C'mon Adele, you used to be amazing, why'd you have to sellout and make this garbage 30 album? I hated Easy On Me, that was on my worst list for 2021, and Oh My God is just as bad. This song is just so damn annoying. There's these random whistling sound effects throughout the song that get super annoying. And Adele sounds like crap, her voice is terrible.

#7: Omar Apollo - Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All)

Previous Rank: #7

This song holds at #7 from the original list. My opinion on this song hasn't changed a whole lot. This is a super weird and boring song and Omar Apollo's voice is terrible.

#6: Amelia Moore - i feel everything
Previous Rank: #6

This song sucked a year ago, and it still sucks to this day. The production sucks, and the weird robotic vocal effects on Amelia's voice suck.

#5: Rihanna - Lift Me Up
Previous Rank: #9

More like Bore Me Up. Rihanna's big comeback song was very disappointing to say the least. This song was just super boring. The production is non-existent and Rihanna's voice is terrible.

#4: Emmy Meli - I AM WOMAN

Previous Rank: Dishonorable Mention #2

Good riddance this may be one of the most annoying songs I have ever hear in my life. The production is really annoying and sucks, and Emmy's weird high pitched voice is terrible.

#3: Imagine Dragons - Bones
Previous rank: N/A

Out with one ID song, in with another. With Enemy growing on me, Bones has done the opposite and really faded on me. This song is just so annoying. The production is terrible, but the worst part of the song is Dan Reynolds' stupid falsetto and weird vocal effects he uses on his voice. Garbage song that should have been on the original worst list instead of Enemy.

#2: Megan Thee Stallion/Dua Lipa - Sweetest Pie
Previous rank: #2

Ah yes, Annoyingest Pie. This song is still garbage a year later and holds at #2. I could not escape this song, it seemed to play every 5 minutes. The trap beat sucks and is super annoying, and Megan's and Dua voices are so bad.

and the #1 worst song of 2022 is...

....

....

#1: Labrinth/Zendaya - I'm Tired
Previous rank: #3

And the #1 worst song of 2022 is Labrinth and Zendaya with I'm Tired. I debated putting this at #1 originally, but ultimately went with Enemy instead. But now a year later this song still sucks. This song sucks in so many ways. Firstly the production is super boring and nonexistent. Then there's Labrinth. His voice is terrible. He does not need to be singing at all. This song would have been 1000x better if it was just Zendaya singing. But nope he had to use his stupid garbage singing voice. He sucks. There's some parts he's trying to sing higher than he actually can and he's literally shrieking. The only saving grace of this song is Zendaya. Her voice is amazing, why couldn't she have sung the whole song instead? But nope, we only get her for like 5 seconds at the end. I hope Labrinth never makes any music ever again. Oh wait, he recently released a new song with Billie Eilish that's even worse than this? I'm gonna have fun tearing apart that song on the 2023 worst list.

Thanks so much for reading, see you all later!

2: Jonas Brothers - Waffle House (+3) (6 weeks) [peak: 2]

1: Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side (+2) (17 weeks) [peak: 1 x 1 week]

Debuts:

I'm In Love With You re-entered this week. I have a feeling this may have something to do with Taylor Swift dating their singer Matt Healy. But I'm not complaining, this song has grown on me a lot again.

David Kushner makes his countdown debut with Daylight. This one's alright. The production starts of boring but gets better throughout the song and David's voice isn't great but it's not terrible.

Finally making its way out of the abyss is Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj with Alone. This samples the 2000 hit Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay. The production is really fun and Kim and Nicki both sound great.

Countdown Extra: Bakar - Hell N Back

Biggest Jump Of The Week: The Weeknd/Future - Double Fantasy (+9)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Tiësto/Tate McRae - 10:35 (-9)

Last year's #1 song: Harry Styles - As It Was (2/8 long and overrated weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Maneskin - Supermodel

Least favorite song last year: Megan Thee Stallion/Dua Lipa - Sweetest Pie

Most missed song: Sam and the Womp - Bom Bom (2012)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Kelly Clarkson - Favorite Kind Of High

5 oldest songs:

5. Jax - Cinderella Snapped (11 weeks)

4. The 1975 - I'm In Love With You (12 weeks)

3. Tie between Niall Horan - Heaven and Latto/Lu Kala - Lottery (13 weeks)

2. Tie between Kane Brown/Katelyn Brown - Thank God and PinkPantheress/Ice Spice - Boy's a liar Pt. 2 (14 weeks)

1. Tie between Tiësto/Tate McRae - 10:35 and Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side (17 weeks)

Hitbound:

Icandy - Keep Dat {3}

Maroon 5 - Middle Ground (Debut)

Lu Kala - Pretty Girl Era {4}

Post Malone - Mourning (Debut)

Ed Sheeran/Luke Combs - Life Goes On {3}

Bakar - Hell N Back {2} SOTW

Kesha - Only Love Can Save Us Now (Debut)

Lewis Capaldi - Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before? (Debut)

Jonas Brothers - Summer Baby {2}

Kodak Black/NLE Choppa/Jimin/JVKE/Muni Long - Angel Pt. 1 (Debut)

Kali - Area Codes (Debut)

Conan Gray - Never Ending Song (Debut)

Pitbull/Lil Jon - JUMPIN {2}

Ice Spice/Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana {3}

Presley Regier - Nevermind {4}

Coco Jones/Owen Cutts - ICU {2}

Maroon 5 is back with their new song in 2 years with Middle Ground. Their big comeback song isn't as good as I hoped but it's still alright. The production is a bit slow but Adam Levine sounds good.

Post Malone is back with Mourning. This isn't as good as Chemical, but it's still solid. The production is alright and Post sounds good.

Kesha is back after 3 years with Only Love Can Save Us Now. And um, this song is...interesting. The production is super weird but it's pretty catchy and Kesha sounds amazing as always.

Lewis Capaldi just released his new album, and here he is with Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before. It just sounds like pretty much the rest of his songs. The production is alright and Lewis sounds pretty good.

A lot of people collab on this next song, Angel Pt. 1, Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, Jimin of BTS, JVKE, and Muni Long. The production is solid and everyone sounds great.

Kali, no not Kali Uchis, this is someone else named Kali, is here with Area Codes. This is very weird but kinda slaps and Kali sounds good.

Conan Gray banger alert. He's back with Never Ending Song. I thought he'd never make another song as good as Overdrive, this isn't quite as good as that, but this is still a banger. The 80s style production is super catchy and Conan sounds great.

Exits:

Dominic Fike - Dancing In The Courthouse {4}

Jack Harlow - They Don't Love It {3}

Jason Derulo - Glad U Came {3}

Lauren Spencer-Smith/GAYLE/Em Beihold - Fantasy {5}

GAYLE - don't call me pretty {1}

Drake - Search & Rescue {5}

I'm sad to see Glad U Came flopped but the rest I didn't care about.

Abyss:

The Weeknd/Ariana Grande - Die For You (Remix)

Avery Anna - Self Love

Rita Ora/Fatboy Slim - Praising You

Labrinth/Billie Eilish - Never Felt So Alone

Gracie Abrams - I know it won't work

NF - Happy

Melanie Martinez - VOID

Lizzo/SZA - Special

Halsey - Die 4 Me

Nicky Youre - Eyes On You

Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary

Meghan Trainor - Mother

Only Blurbs Can Save Us Now:

We lost Lavender Haze, Kill Bill, and Nonsense. Lavender Haze was super annoying and stuck around way too long. Kill Bill was good but was starting to get really old. And Nonsense breaks the record for highest drop off the countdown at #4, breaking Kiss Me More and Eyes On You's record at #5.

The title to Toosii - Favorite Song is blatant false advertising and I want my money back.  That’s right, I demand my money back for the percentage of time that Hits 1 is airing that song over the course of my annual subscription.  When I get my check for $0.21 in the mail, I am going to be one happy camper.  Favorite Song is quite ironically my least favorite song on the countdown.  Harsh?  Heh…when you title your song as such, you are quite literally begging for this sort of criticism (Note, this is not my copypasta, I stole it from CountdownRecap when he did it for One Direction - Best Song Ever).

Baby Don’t Hurt Me entered the top 10. I guess I'll take it.

Thank God finally entered the top 10. This song is starting to fade on me a bit but I'll take it.

Does Eyes Closed really need to jump to #3? This really needs to be replaced by a better song of his like Curtains.

Waffle House jumped to #2. Can the Jonas Brothers finally get their first #1 since Only Human in 2019?

Let's go!!!!!! Love From The Other Side is #1 this week and giving Fall Out Boy's first #1 since The Last Of The Real Ones in 2018. Hopefully this can stick around longer at #1 but I'm just glad it hit #1 at all.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
