Debuts:

Glass Animals make their return to the countdown in 3 years with Creatures In Heaven. This is so much better than that overplayed garbage Heat Waves. This is super catchy and singer Dave Bayley sounds amazing.

After dropping out of hitbound last week, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus are here with II MOST WANTED. They both sound decent but this is super boring and forgettable.

Imagine Dragons make their return to the countdown in 2 years with Eyes Closed. This is easily their best song they made in the last 10 years. The production is super cool and I really like the dubstep drop, and Dan Reynolds sounds amazing

Countdown Extra: Ava Max - My Oh My

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between Ariana Grande - we can’t be friends (wait for your love) and Olivia Rodrigo - so american [+6]

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Dua Lipa - Houdini [-7]

Last year's #1 song: Tiësto/Tate McRae - 10:35 (4/6 weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Maisie Peters - Lost the Breakup

Least favorite song last year: Labrinth/Billie Eilish - Never Felt So Alone

Most missed song: Michael Jackson/Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good (2014)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Nicky Youre - Mile Away

Hitbound

Michael Marcagi - Scared To Start [2]

Dua Lipa - Illusion [Debut]

d4vd - Feel It [Debut]

OneRepublic - Nobody [Debut]

Benson Boone - Cry [2]

Mimi Webb - Mistake [Debut]

girl in red/Sabrina Carpenter - You Need Me Now? [2]

People R Ugly - DUMB [Debut]

Doja Cat/Teezo Touchdown - MASC [2]

Artemas - i like the way you kiss me [Debut]

Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso [Debut]

Mark Ambor - Belong Together [Debut]

vaultboy - you're my moon [Debut]

David Guetta/OneRepublic - I Don't Wanna Wait [2]

Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe! [Debut]

Ava Max - My Oh My [2]

10 debuts again this week, let's get started!

Dua Lipa is back with Illusion. This is pretty fun but kinda forgettable. This will probably grow on me like Houdini and Training Season did.

God, please not more d4vd! He's back with Feel It. This is a lot better than Here With Me, but it's still not that great. The production is pretty upbeat but d4vd's voice is pretty bad.

OneRepublic brings their second song on hitbound with Nobody. This is really fun and reminds me a lot of I Ain't Worried.

Mimi Webb is back with Mistake. This is amazing. It has a really cool EDM drop and Mimi sounds amazing as always.

People R Ugly are back with DUMB. Brain Dead was a banger, but Dumb is super boring.

Wow, Hits 1 actually picked up on my last week's recommendation for Hits 1. Artemas is here with i like the way you kiss me. This is a super fun and catchy alt song.

Sabrina Carpenter is here with Espresso. The disco production is pretty fun and Sabrina sounds good.

Mark Ambor is here with Belong Together. This is pretty fun but very forgettable.

Remember vaultboy? He had a random song on Hits 1 in 2021 called everything sucks. That one was a banger, you're my moon however is very boring.

Chappell Roan is back with Good Luck, Babe after her boring song Kaleidoscope dropped out of hitbound last year. Luckily this is a lot better. The 80s style production is really cool and she sounds great.

Exits:

The Beaches - Blame Brett [8]

Teddy Swims - The Door [11]

Paul Russell - Eat Pray Love [1]

Haiden Henderson - hell of a good time [4]

Tori Kelly - thing u do [1]

Porter Robinson - Cheerleader [3]

Jagwar Twin - Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa) [15]

Nicky Youre - Part Time Lover [4]

Good riddance to Bad Feeling, which Hallett pointed out lasted longer in hitbound than vampire lasted on the countdown. The Door was amazing but also lasted way too long. Part Time Lover and Blame Brett were just alright. Cheerleader, thing u do, hell of a good time, and Eat Pray Love deserved better.

Abyss

Muni Long - Made For Me

Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust

Lady Gaga/Ariana Grande - Rain On Me

Jessie Murph/Jelly Roll - Wild Ones

Victoria Monét - On My Mama

Hayes Warner/Billy B/Kevin Rudolf - Just A Girl

Jelly Roll/Lainey Wilson - Save Me

The Weeknd/JENNIE/Lily-Rose Depp - One Of The Girls

Jennifer Lopez/Latto - Can't Get Enough

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder on the Dancefloor

i like the way you blurb me:

We lost Lose Control, Is It Over Now, and exes. Good riddance to Lose Control, it stuck around way too long. Is It Over Now got super overplayed and annoying. And exes deserved better.

Shakes, Slow It Down, Me Myself & Your Eyes, and A Symptom Of Being Human all had big jumps despite all being in the bottom 5 of airplay.

Beautiful Things jumped to #2. Hopefully this can get #1 next week.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

Poll of the week results:

  1. girl in red/Sabrina Carpenter - You Need Me Now?: 38.46 %/5 votes
  2. David Guetta/OneRepublic - I Don't Wanna Wait: 30.77 %/4 votes
  3. Imagine Dragons - Eyes Closed: 15.38 %/2 votes
  4. Glass Animals - Creatures In Heaven: 7.69 %/1 vote
  5. Ava Max - My Oh My: 7.69 %/1 vote

Debuts:

Benson Boone brings his second song on the countdown with Slow It Down. This is great but not as great as Beautiful Things. Just like Beautiful Things, Slow It Down starts off slow but gets amazing by the end.

so american makes its way out of the abyss. I don't think this has been pushed to pop so I'm not sure why Hits 1 needs two Olivia Rodrigo songs on the countdown. This is kinda fun but not as good as obsessed.

Hozier makes his first countdown debut in 9 years since Someone New in 2015, with Too Sweet. This has grown on me a lot. This is extremely catchy and Hozier sounds great.

Goodness 10 debuts, let's get started!

Really Hits 1, did we really need more Doja Cat? She's back along with rapper Teezo Touchdown with MASC. This really sucks. It's super boring and weird and they both sound terrible.

Benson Boone just released his first album Fireworks & Rollerblades, and he's here with Cry. This is another amazing song from him. Just like with his other songs it starts off slow but then gets amazing.

Glass Animals are back after not making music for 2 years with Creatures In Heaven. This is super catchy and is so much better than Heat Waves.

Ava Max is here with My Oh My. If the melody sounds familiar, it's because it samples the same Arabic melody that Kesha sampled in Take It Off. This is really good, it reminds me a lot of The Motto.

Another band is back after not making any music for 2 years. Imagine Dragons are here with Eyes Closed. And oh my this is such a banger. The production is really cool and Dan Reynolds sounds amazing.

Paul Russell is back with Eat Pray Love. Not much to say except this is another bop from him.

Everyone's favorite sampling recycler David Guetta is here along with OneRepublic with I Don't Wanna Wait. This time David Guetta decided to sample that meme song Dragostea Din Tei. This is the perfect summer song. The production is amazing and super fun and Ryan Tedder sounds amazing as always

Tori Kelly is back with thing u do. This is another bop from her. I really like the 2000s R&B vibe and her voice is amazing.

Next is a collab between girl in red and Sabrina Carpenter called You Need Me Now. This is pretty fun and they both sound good.

Lastly we have some rando named Michael Marcagi with Scared To Start. Apparently this is top 30 in the US Spotify charts. This is alright. The production is pretty upbeat and he sounds pretty good.

Exits:

Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust [10]

Liam Payne - Teardrops [5]

So Much (For) Stardust finally grew on me after 10 weeks, and finds itself in the abyss. clouds and King Size Bed were amazing and deserved better. Good riddance to I Hate It. And the rest were super forgettable.

Eat Pray Blurb:

We lost Lovin On Me, Yes I’m A Mess, and greedy. Good riddance to Lovin On Me, it will not be missed. Yes I’m A Mess and greedy were great but were way too old.

A Symptom Of Being Human randomly jumped 16 spots despite being in the bottom 5 of airplay. Ok, then?

Austin has grown on me a lot and it now becomes my purple song.

Saturn is super weird and boring and it now becomes my orange song.

Seriously, Lose Control has been here for over 7 and a half months, is this ever gonna leave?

We really don't need Justin Miderlake in the top 10.

I was hoping Not The 1975 could take the #1 spot next week, but hopefully it can next week.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
