Debuts:
I'm surprised Hits 1 picked up on this song. Drake debuts out of nowhere with Nokia. Hits 1 usually says "eww, gross" to any rap song, but apparently not this time. This is alright. The production is pretty fun and Drake sounds good, but this feels kinda mid.
SZA and Kendrick Lamar collab yet again on 30 FOR 30. If I thought luther was boring, this is even more boring. SZA and Kendrick sound alright, but the production is way too boring. Hopefully this doesn't stick around for as long as luther has.
We had 2 reentries this week. One was deserving, and the other one not so much. First up is Sally, When The Wine Runs Out. This has grown on me quite a bit and I'm really glad to see this back.
If you thought Wildflower reentering out of nowhere last week was strange, this last reentry is even stranger. For some inexplicable reason, Morgan Wallen's Love Somebody has reentered the countdown for a second time, making this its third countdown run. Why is this back? This song is super old and already ran its course, there's no need for this to be back. This might be the weirdest reentry we've had since If The World Was Ending randomly reentered the countdown 4 months after it left in 2020.

Wow, just one debut this week. Morgan Wallen and Post Malone collab for a second time with I Ain't Comin' Back. This is fine. They both sound good but this is very forgettable and isn't nearly as good as I Had Some Help.
Too Much has been here so long, it took a month to grow on me, debuted my personal charts, went #1, and left, all while this has still been on hitbound...
Exits:
Max McNown - A Lot More Free [2; 2nd time]
What was the point of bringing this back if it was just gonna leave the next week?

Blurb when we're dead:
We lost Love In Real Life, Next Summer, Sailor Song, and BMF. Love In Real Life was great but was starting to fade on me. Next Summer was super mid. BMF was super annoying. And a special good riddance to Sailor Song. I didn't think this song was ever gonna leave. I have no idea how it lasted 6 months on the countdown. Goodbye, you will not be missed.
Not At This Party and like JENNIE still continue to rot in the bottom 5 because why not.
Oof, Love Me To Heaven did not need to drop 2 spots.
luther is still refusing to go the hell away.
Finally, I didn't think Good News was ever gonna leave the top 10.
Nice to see Anxiety in the top 10.
Azizam having a huge 16 spot jump into the top 10 was unexcepted but I'll take it.
Call Me When You Break Up really did not need to jump all the way to #3. There's no way this song is going #1.
Nice to see Lady Gaga hold off ROSÉ from #1 again, but it's only a matter of time until toxic till the end goes #1.
That's all for now, see you all next week!

Another song I think we should throw into the abyss list is a song called I Don’t Like You Anymore by a new potential Hits 1 Plant Maddox Batson. I’ve heard it a few times on the station. I don’t even know how or if it should be on here knowing the singer is born in 2009.
ReplyDeleteOh joy, another Hits 1 plant. I'll go ahead and add it to the abyss list.
DeleteI believe it was just from a Hits 1 in LA interview, as it played two times exactly three hours away from each other. We will see if it gets played again, but I wouldn’t classify it abyss material yet.
DeleteI had actually heard of Maddox before and quite liked what I heard! IDLYA will probably be in my Almost There for this week
DeleteI seriously thought we weren’t even gonna have more than 3 exits this week cuz I just saw Sally as a potential reentry but Love Somebody reentered as well. Really? 2nd time? Even when Morgan Wallen has a new song on HitBound? They should’ve definitely purged it and removed it from the survey so that it wouldn’t reenter like it did now. Also, speaking of survey, does Bed Chem hold the longest time being out of the survey but still on the countdown in a 30 song countdown?

Hey Ethan, What are your thoughts on Arrested Youth's "Clear My Throat"? I think it's a great song that honestly kind of reminds me of old 2000s Alternative Hip-Hop.
