Debuts:

Akon is a name I haven't heard in a long time. This is his first appearance on the countdown in 14 years since his feature on David Guetta's Sexy Chick in late 2009/early 2010. Akon's Beautiful Day is super fun and Akon still sounds great after all these years.

As I predicted Love Somebody re-entered. I'm not really sure why it left to begin with if it was just gonna re-enter a week later.

Countdown Extra: Hayes Warner - ZIP also left hitbound for some reason...

Biggest Jump Of The Week: David Guetta/Alphaville/Ava Max - Forever Young [+15]

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Tate McRae - It's ok I'm ok [-5]

Last year's #1 song: Tate McRae - greedy (5/11 long weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Kenya Grace - Strangers

Least favorite song last year: Doja Cat - Agora Hills

Most missed song: M.I.A. - Paper Planes (2007)

Recommendation for Hits 1: The Royal Concept - Shadows in the Night

Lil Nas X is back with another song LIGHT AGAIN that's gonna flop harder than J CHRIST. This really slaps and Lil Nas X sounds great.

Tate McRae is back with another song 2 hands. This is fun, I think it's slightly better than It's ok I'm ok.

The Kid LAROI and Quavo collab on SLOW IT DOWN. This samples Destiny's Child's 2001 hit Independent Women Pt 1. The sample works very well and doesn't seem lazily used.

Disney star Meg Donnelly makes her Hits 1 debut with in my bag. This is really fun and she has a great voice.

2 forgettable artists Nessa Barrett and Artemas collab on a song that's just as forgettable MUSTANG BABY. This is fine, the production is alright and everyone sounds good, but this is extremely forgettable.

Shaboozey is back after his massive hit A Bar Song with Good News. This is just alright and isn't nearly as good as A Bar Song.

Apparently Hits 1 is now picking up on every single Dasha song. She replaces herself with Heartbreaker From Tennessee. This is a fun little country song and Dasha sounds great.

The Marías make their Hits 1 debut with No One Noticed. They had an alt hit in 2021 called Hush that I loved. But No One Noticed kinda sucks. This is just very boring and uninteresting.

Jonah Marais from Why Don't We and Ryan Lewis the counterpart to Macklemore collab with Slow Motion. The production from Ryan Lewis is really cool and Jonah sounds great.

Exits:

Lawrence - Whatcha Want [9]

Gracie Abrams - That's So True [4]

Jason Derulo/Jawsh 685 - Make Me Happy [3]

Myles Smith - Nice To Meet You [1]

Dasha - Bye Bye Bye [9]

Hayes Warner - ZIP [5]

That's So True and Make Me Happy find themselves in the abyss. Whatcha Want deserved to debut. ZIP left despite being the countdown extra. And Bye Bye Bye and Nice To Meet You were good but forgettable.

Abyss

Katy Perry/Doechii - I'M HIS, HE'S MINE

Gracie Abrams - That's So True

Jason Derulo/Jawsh 685 - Make Me Happy

Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine

Kylie Minogue - Lights Camera Action

Charli XCX/Ariana Grande - Sympathy is a knife (remix)

Billie Eilish - WILDFLOWER

Chappell Roan - Pink Pony Club

Sabrina Carpenter - Bed Chem

Gracie Abrams - I Love You, I'm Sorry

Chappell Roan - Femininomenon

Harry Styles - Daylight

Heartblurber From Tennessee:

We lost I'M HIS, HE'S MINE and WE PRAY. I'M HIS, HE'S MINE is yet another Katy Perry flop and WE PRAY was very forgettable.

Sailor Song was #1 in airplay at one point yet it dropped to the bottom spot. Good, get this song out of here.

I love that we all thought that It's ok I'm ok would spend multiple weeks at #1, yet it still hasn't seen the top half of the countdown yet.

A big 9 spot jump from Disease. This has grown on me a lot so nice to see it doing well.

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart just needs one more week to be the second song to join the 30 week club this year.

Why did Forever Young randomly jump 15 spots almost into the top 10? It's a great song but I don't think it's doing that well on pop.

Taste is back at #1 this week. This song is getting very old so I'm not really too happy it's back at #1. Die With A Smile just needs to hit #1 already.

That's all for now, see you all next week!
