Debuts:

Hits 1 continues the trend of not letting one hit wonders stay one hit wonders by picking up on Shaboozey's new song Good News. This is fine but very forgettable and not nearly as good as A Bar Song.

Tate McRae is here with her second song on the countdown 2 hands. This shrunk on me slightly. This is forgettable and not nearly as fun as It's ok I'm ok.

I'M HIS, HE'S MINE reentered for some unknown reason. I thought this song already flopped, just let it die in peace already.

That's So True finally made its way out of the abyss. Nice to see this debuting as it's easily Gracie Abrams' best song.

I don't think WILDFLOWER really needed to reenter all the way at #14 since this isn't even doing anything on pop radio yet.

Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club debuts almost at the top 10. Nice to see this finally making its way out of the abyss but I don't think it needed to debut this high.

Countdown Extra: Dasha - Heartbreaker From Tennessee

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between ROSÉ/Bruno Mars - APT. and Jelly Roll - I Am Not Okay [+6]

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Khalid - Heatstroke [-6]

Last year's #1 song: Tate McRae - greedy (6/11 long weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Knox - Not The 1975

Least favorite song last year: Doja Cat - Agora Hills

Most missed song: Lorde - Tennis Court (2013)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Tom Morello/grandson/Roman Morello - One Last Dance

Dasha - Heartbreaker From Tennessee [2]

Twenty One Pilots - The Line [Debut]

Nessa Barrett/Artemas - MUSTANG BABY [2]

Ariana Grande is here with Popular from the Wicked soundtrack. I'm surprised Hits 1 picked up on this because they don't usually pick up on songs from musicals. The only other one I can think of was We Don't Talk About Bruno in 2022. This is alright. The production and Ariana both sound good but this seems very forgettable.

ROSÉ from Blackpink is back with another song after the super fun APT, with a song that is less than fun, number one girl. This is very boring. ROSÉ just needs to stick with making fun music.

Wow, a Jack Harlow song that doesn't make me instantly want to vomit. He's back with Hello Miss Johnson since not releasing any music since Lovin On Me last year. This is actually really fun. I really like the jazz style production and Jack sounds great. This probably isn't going to age well in 3 months when Hits 1 starts to play it every 5 minutes, but for now I love it.

Twenty One Pilots are back with another song The Line from the League of Legends soundtrack. This is super boring and not interesting to listen to at all.

Lil Nas X replaces himself with need dat boy. This starts off very slow but it starts to pick up in the last 50 seconds. Why couldn't the whole song have been like the last 50 seconds? It would make the song 50x better.

Nice To Meet You reentered. At least it replaced Wait for You that spent way too long in hitbound.

Exits:

Halsey - Panic Attack [4]

Lil Nas X - LIGHT AGAIN! [1]

The Kid LAROI/Quavo - SLOW IT DOWN [1]

Myles Smith - Wait for You [12]

Good riddance to Panic Attack, that was super boring. LIGHT AGAIN and SLOW IT DOWN find themselves in the abyss. And Wait for You stuck around way too long.

Abyss

David Guetta/Alphaville/Ava Max - Forever Young

Taylor Swift - So High School

Akon - Akon's Beautiful Day

Lil Nas X - LIGHT AGAIN!

The Kid LAROI/Quavo - SLOW IT DOWN

Jason Derulo/Jawsh 685 - Make Me Happy

Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine

Kylie Minogue - Lights Camera Action

Charli XCX/Ariana Grande - Sympathy is a knife (remix)

Sabrina Carpenter - Bed Chem

Gracie Abrams - I Love You, I'm Sorry

Harry Styles - Daylight

Pink Pony Blurbs:

We lost Carry You Home, Forever Young, So High School, JOYRIDE, Lonely Road, and Akon's Beautiful Day. Good riddance to Carry You Home and Lonely Road which were getting very old. I'm not sure what the point of Forever Young randomly jumping 15 spots to #11 when it was just gonna leave the next week. So High School and Akon's Beautiful Day were great and deserved better, and also find themselves in the abyss so they could reenter. And Joyride was amazing but it was starting to fade on me.

Sailor Song really did not deserve to stay on the countdown over some other songs that left.

Nice to see APT finally getting a big jump. It really needs to hit #1 soon.

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart became the second song this year to join the 30 week club, just a month after Austin did it.

Um, I Am Not Okay really did not need to jump all the way to #6.

Taste is actually starting to get very annoying and I need to bring out the cyan "song is getting annoying" color code for the first time. This really needs to leave the #1 spot and the countdown soon.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

  1. So High School will almost certainly come back when the time is right, but it wasn't WILDFLOWER's time?
