Debuts:

Hayes Warner is back on the countdown with Oh. This has grown on me a lot, this is very fun and she sounds great. With this song debuting, something happened on the countdown that has only happened once to my knowledge, and it was all the way back in 2018. Since this song entered hitbound last week while it was still unreleased, this has become the second song in Hits 1 history that has debuted the countdown the week it was released. The only other time this happened was in 2018, when Shawn Mendes hosted the countdown and let In My Blood debut the week it was released and skipped hitbound.

After floating around in the abyss for 2 months, Megan Moroney finally makes her Hits 1 debut with Am I Okay. I have no idea who this person is or why Hits 1 is randomly picking up on this. Apparently she had a big country hit in 2022 called Tennessee Orange. This is a decent country song but this is extremely forgettable.

Vella Sunday Bests with All My Love. This has grown on me a lot. It gives off mid 2000s Amy Winehouse vibes which I love, and her voice is really good.

After dropping out of hitbound 2 months ago and randomly entering the abyss a month ago, Myles Smith finally debuts with Nice To Meet You. This is very fun and so much better than that overplayed Stargazing.

Finally we have RAYE making her return to the countdown after 2 years with Oscar Winning Tears. This song is just amazing. The production is great and RAYE's voice is amazing as always.

Countdown Extra: Marshmello/Jonas Brothers - Slow Motion

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between Addison Rae - Diet Pepsi and Teddy Swims - Bad Dreams [+12]

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Ariana Grande - Popular [-11]

Last year's #1 song: Tate McRae - greedy (11/11 long weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder on the Dancefloor

Least favorite song last year: Jack Harlow - Lovin On Me

Most missed song: Basia - If Not Now Then When (2009)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Kygo/OneRepublic - Chasing Paradise

  5. Sabrina Carpenter - Taste {22w}

Hitbound

Griff - last night's mascara [12]

Knox - Pick Your Poison [Debut]

Vella - All My Love [SB]

Sexyy Red/Bruno Mars - Fat Juicy & Wet [Debut]

Tate McRae - Sports car [Debut]

Willow Avalon - Baby Blue [2]

Tyla - PUSH 2 START [2]

Kesha - Dear Me [Debut]

Crash Adams - Optimist [8]

Lauren Spencer Smith - Pray [Debut]

TWICE/Megan Thee Stallion - Strategy [7]

Teddy Swims - Guilty [Debut]

Alessi Rose - IKYK [2]

SZA - Drive [6]

Morgan Wallen - Smile [3]

Knox is back with Pick Your Poison. This is another banger from him, but this is still kinda forgettable. Hopefully it grows on me more.

Never in my life did I ever expect Hits 1 would pick up on a Sexyy Red song, but here she is along with Bruno Mars with Fat Juicy & Wet, which Hits 1 just calls "Fat Juicy &" which is kinda hilarious. This slaps really hard and everyone sounds great.

Wow Tate MidRae finally made a great song for once. She's back with Sports car. I'm normally not a big fan of her but holy shit she ate and left no crumbs behind. The production is amazing. It gives off early 2000s Britney Spears and Pussycat Dolls vibes, which I'm here for. This actually samples the Pussycat Dolls' 2005 hit Buttons. I can already tell this song is going to be a big hit.

Eww we really did not need another Kesha ballad. Dear Me is alright, I guess, but this is just very boring.

Not gonna lie, I completely forgot that Lauren Spencer Smith existed. We last saw her 2 years ago with That Part, which I and also you forgot was on the countdown. Pray is a decent power ballad, but Lauren oversings in some parts and doesn't sound great.

Djo who had one of the most overplayed songs last year is back with Basic Being Basic. This is really fun and the psychedelic style pop production is really cool.

Teddy Swims replaces himself with thankfully a much better song called Guilty. The production is pretty upbeat and Teddy sounds great.

Exits:

  • Marshmello/Jonas Brothers - Slow Motion [1] SOTW
  • Dasha - Bye Bye Bye [13; 2nd time]
  • Teddy Swims/Giveon - Are You Even Real [2]
  • Kesha - DELUSIONAL [4]
  • ROSÉ - toxic till the end [4; 2nd time]
  • Nessa Barrett - PINS AND NEEDLES [3]

Slow Motion left despite being the countdown extra and could enter the abyss song. toxic till the end also finds itself in the abyss. Good riddance to Bye Bye Bye which stuck around way later than it needed to. And the rest of the songs were mid.

2025 Total Dropouts: 19

Estimated total for 2025: 141 (+11)

Abyss

Jack Harlow - Hello Miss Johnson

ROSÉ - toxic till the end

The Marías - No One Noticed

JENNIE - Mantra

Lady Gaga - Disease

Akon - Akon's Beautiful Day

Harry Styles - Daylight

Fat, juicy, & blurby:

We lost Touch, It's ok I'm ok, 2 hands, Criminals, and I Am Not Okay. Good riddance to I Am Not Okay, it was super boring, stuck around way too long, and peaked way too high. I think it's hilarious we all thought It's ok I'm ok would be #1 for multiple weeks, yet it ended up only seeing the top half of the countdown for only 1 week. 2 hands was very mid but luckily we have a much better Tate song that will hopefully debut soon. Criminals was great but was kinda getting old. And Touch was super forgettable and didn't really need to reenter in the first place.

Diet Pepsi has been here for 5 months and it just now got out of the bottom 10...

Moonlit Floor is a great song but I don't think it needs to be all the way up to #9.

I forgot to mention this last week, but BIRDS OF A FEATHER broke the record for most weeks on the countdown for a song that spent its entire run in the 30 countdown song era. Before You Go had 37 weeks, but spent some time in the 45 countdown song era. I wonder if BIRDS OF A FEATHER could break Before You Go's record also.

Pink Pony Club jumped to #3 and could hit #1 soon.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

  1. Random question: do you know the all time record for the longest time a song has ever spent in the top 10? I feel like boaf must be pretty close to that, if not already setting that record...
