Hey guys! I just finished the 2017 Hits 1 ultimate rank, which you can find on my header or here: https://zestpond.blogspot.com/p/2017-ultimate-rank.html
With the 2017 ultimate rank done, there is now an ultimate rank for every single year since 2011. But now I'm gonna start working on redoing the 2018-2022 ultimate ranks with the more accurate point totals.

Debuts:
Welp, after not receiving a single spin outside of hitbound all week, Dasha returns to the countdown with Not At This Party. This is really fun, but isn't nearly as great as Austin.
After spending one and a half weeks in hitbound, ROLE MODEL returns to the countdown in 5 years with Sally, When The Wine Runs Out. This is pretty fun but very forgettable, and isn't nearly as good as Going Out.
Benson Boone returns to the countdown with Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else. This is really fun, the lyrics are great, and Benson sounds good and isn't screaming for once, but honestly I think I prefer screaming Benson more.
I never thought I'd see the day when I would put a Lizzo song in purple, but here we are. Lizzo makes her grand return to the countdown after a 2 year hiatus with Love In Real Life. This is easily the best song she's ever made. The 80s rock/Prince production is amazing and Lizzo's voice works really well with this type of music.
Countdown Extra: Halsey - safeword
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tate McRae - Sports car [+10]
Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: The Weeknd/Playboi Carti - Timeless [-11]
Last year's #1 song: Dua Lipa - Houdini (6/8 weeks at #1)
Favorite song last year: Galantis/David Guetta/5 Seconds of Summer - Lighter
Least favorite song last year: Jack Harlow - Lovin On Me
Most missed song: Ashe/Niall Horan - Moral of the Story (2020)
Recommendation for Hits 1: David Guetta/Sia - Beautiful People
5 Oldest Songs
- Lady Gaga/Bruno Mars - Die With A Smile {29w}
- ROSÉ/Bruno Mars - APT. {20w}
- Morgan Wallen - Love Somebody {19w}
- Tie between Gigi Perez - Sailor Song and Alex Warren/Joe Jonas - Burning Down {18w}
- Tie between Shaboozey - Good News, Gracie Abrams - That's So True, and Chappell Roan - Pink Pony Club {16w}

Lady Gaga has just released her new album MAYHEM and here she is with Garden Of Eden. The production here is really cool, but this isn't nearly as great as Abracadabra.
For some ungodly reason can't slow down reentered hitbound. It already spent 11 weeks in hitbound, it really did not need to come back.
JENNIE released her first ever album Ruby, and she collabs with Dua Lipa with Handlebars. JENNIE and Dua both sound good, but this is very forgettable.
Wow Doechii just straight up stole the melody for Somebody That I Used To Know with this next song. She didn't even try to change the melody at all. Anxiety was originally posted on her YouTube channel back in 2019, but she just now officially released it a few days ago. Somebody That I Used To Know is one of my favorite songs of all time so any song that samples it is automatically amazing. Doechii sounds great here and the lyrics are great.
Great we have 2 randos debuting this week. Ryann, who apparently is a songwriter for Dua Lipa and The Chainsmokers, debuts with Dirty. Her voice is alright, and the production is pretty good but is very forgettable.
Someone named Cil is here with You're a Liar (You Love Me). This is fun but is very forgettable.
Daniel Seavey from Why Don't We makes his solo Hits 1 debut with Lose Me Like You Mean It. This really sucks. The production is very weird and boring and his voice is not good at all.
Oh great just what we needed, some random song from 2005 debuting hitbound. British singer and producer Imogen Heap makes her Hits 1 debut with Headlock, well kinda. If you didn't know, Jason Derulo sampled one of her other songs Hide And Seek in his song Whatcha Say, which is the only reason I knew Imogen Heap existed. As for Headlock, this is a good song despite being 20 years old. Wait, 2005 was already 20 years ago? God I'm getting old. Anyways, apparently this song is just now becoming popular because it was on some video game called Mouthwashing. This song has some cool production, but this seems kinda forgettable and I'm not completely sold on this yet. But I have a feeling this could grow on me.
Exits:
Steve Aoki/Trippie Redd/Jessica Baio/KABU - Radio [1]
Halsey - safeword [1] SOTW
JENNIE/Doechii - ExtraL [2]
Damiano David - Next Summer [1]
Radio deserved so much better. safeword is the countdown extra and is in the abyss so hopefully it debuts next week. And ExtraL and Next Summer were super mid.
2025 Total Dropouts: 44
Estimated total for 2025: 176 (-1)
Abyss
Halsey - safeword
Sabrina Carpenter - Busy Woman
Tyla - PUSH 2 START
Pitbull/Bon Jovi - Now or Never
Eminem/Jelly Roll - Somebody Save Me
Hayes Warner - Oh!
Knox - Pick Your Poison
Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us
Billie Eilish - WILDFLOWER
Vella - All My Love
Crash Adams - Optimist
The Marías - No One Noticed
Lady Gaga - Disease
Harry Styles - Daylight
Blurb me like you mean it:
We lost squabble up, Busy Woman, Guilty (again), and BIRDS OF A FEATHER. squabble up was super mid and won't be missed. Guilty was super forgettable and I think I only heard this 3 times on Hits 1 while it was on the countdown. Busy Woman left after only 1 week. Is Sabrina finally starting her downfall? Who am I kidding, this is probably gonna reenter soon anyway. And finally, it's about damn time BIRDS OF A FEATHER left the countdown. I actually didn't mind this lasted so long on the countdown. It actually grew on me the more I heard it. But yeah, it was really time for this to leave.
Hits 1 apparently doesn't know what to do with Timeless and Cry For Me because they keep switching having massive drops/jumps every week.
BMF, Good News, I Love You I'm Sorry, and Bed Chem have all gotten quite annoying and have been downgraded a tier.
Sports car took a huge jump into the top 10.
That's So True becomes Gracie Abrams' second song to peak at #2. Will this hit #1 unlike Close To You? Probably not, but who knows.
To no one's surprise, Pink Pony Club remains at #1 this week. And this might remain at #1 for a few more weeks because it's destroying every other song in airplay and I don't see any other songs overtaking it any time soon.
That's all for now, see you all next week!
