Debuts:

Alessi Rose finally makes her countdown debut with Same Mouth. This is a lot better than IKYK that refused to leave hitbound. She sounds really good here, but the production here just feels super generic.

Morgan Wallen replaces himself with a collab with Tate McRae called What I Want. This is a step down from I Ain't Comin' Back. Morgan and Tate both sound good here, but the production is just some super generic country trap beat that's super boring.

Lastly, for some inexplicable reason, Shaboozey's Good News has reentered. Bruh, no one asked for this. This song is over 6 months old and has already run its course. Hits 1 seriously needs to stop with these random reentries. First it was Love Somebody, then Sailor Song, and now this. This is just gonna leave next week anyway so why bother even bringing it back.

Countdown Extra: Rihanna - Friend Of Mine

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Alex Warren - Ordinary [+8]

Biggest...DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Ariana Grande - twilight zone [-8]

Last year's #1 song: Hozier - Too Sweet (3/6 weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Camila Cabello/Lil Nas X - HE KNOWS

Least favorite song last year: SZA - Saturn

Most missed song: Coi Leray/David Guetta - Make My Day (2023)

Recommendation for Hits 1: DURRY - idk i just work here

5 Oldest Songs

  2. Teddy Swims - Bad Dreams {23w}
  3. Tate McRae - Sports car {17w}
  4. Tie between The Weeknd - Cry For Me and Lady Gaga - Abracadabra {16w}
  5. ROSÉ - toxic till the end {15w}

Hitbound

People R Ugly - DOULOVEME [2]

Reneé Rapp - Leave Me Alone [Debut]

Ed Sheeran - Old Phone [4]

Michael Clifford - cool [8]

Alex Warren/Jelly Roll - Bloodline [Debut]

Dove Cameron - French Girls [4]

Benson Boone - Momma Song [Debut]

Machine Gun Kelly - cliché [Debut]

Emei - Crazy Stupid Love [13]

Jon Bellion/Luke Combs - WHY [Debut]

Joe Jonas - Heart By Heart [5]

The Paradox - Do Me Like That [4]

Tyla - Bliss [2]

Rihanna - Friend Of Mine [2]

Laufey - Tough Luck [2]

Avril Lavigne/Simple Plan - Young & Dumb [3]

Reneé Rapp is finally back with Leave Me Alone after not making any music for a year. This is yet another banger from her. The alt production slaps so hard and she sounds great as per usual.

Alex Warren and Jelly Roll collab with Bloodline. Apparently Alex Warren wrote this for someone as an EDM song, I'm not really sure who because I can't find any information. As for the song itself, this is pretty good. The production is really fun and Alex and Jelly Roll both sound great, but this feels kinda generic.

Ugh, just when Benson Boone was starting to release some bangers, he goes and releases a ballad called Momma Song. This isn't the worst ballad I've heard from him, but this is just way too boring for me to enjoy.

Machine Gun Kelly, who has changed his name to mgk, but I refuse to call him that because I've gotten so used to calling him Machine Gun Kelly, is back with cliché after that super mid song Lonely Road last year. This is one of his best songs in awhile. The production is really fun and feels really nostalgic, and Machine Gun Kelly sounds great as usual.

Seriously Hits 1, can you please stop picking up on every Jon Bellion song? It's getting ridiculous at this point. WHY is not great at all, but at least it's slightly better than that snoozefest HOROSCOPE. The production is super generic, but Luke Combs' verse is pretty good and the production starts to pick up towards the end of the song.

Exits:

  • Damiano David - Voices [2]
  • Shaboozey/Myles Smith - Blink Twice [6]
  • BigXthaPlug/Bailey Zimmerman - All The Way [6]

Voices was great and deserved better. And Blink Twice and All The Way were super mid.

2025 Total Dropouts: 75

Estimated total for 2025: 163 (=)

Abyss

Calvin Harris/Clementine Douglas - Blessings [1]

Morgan Wallen/Post Malone - I Ain't Comin' Back [1]

Shinedown - Three Six Five [2]

Maren Morris - lemonade [2]

Myles Smith - Nice To Meet You [3]

Billie Eilish - WILDFLOWER [3]

Dasha - Not At This Party [4]

Janet Jackson - Someone To Call My Lover [5]

almost monday - can't slow down [7]

Ryann - Dirty [8]

Justice/Tame Impala - Neverender [9]

Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us [12]

Pitbull/Bon Jovi - Now or Never [13]

Harry Styles - Daylight [157]

Why is Not Like Us randomly back in the abyss? And why is a random Calvin Harris song in the abyss?

Blurb of mine:

We lost like JENNIE, I Ain't Comin' Back, and Messy. like JENNIE was great but it was super forgettable, and it was here for 2 months and only peaked at #25. I'm not really sure why I Ain't Comin' Back left, because it still had a ton of airplay. And Messy stuck around way too long and really needed to leave a while ago.

NOKIA is literally just countdown filler at this point. It refuses to do anything.

Feel It has grown on me a lot and What Was That has faded on me, so Feel It now becomes my purple song.

Hits 1 doesn't know what to do with twilight zone because it keeps jumping and dropping hard.

Hits 1 announced that ROLE MODEL is the next one to watch. But he was already the one to watch in 2020 with Going Out. Did Hits 1 forget he was already a one to watch?

How in the hell is Ordinary all the way up at #3? The title of the song perfectly describes how I feel about it. It's super generic and ordinary.

We finally have a new #1 this week. Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else has gotten quite annoying recently and I was really hoping it wouldn't reach #1, but I guess I'm fine with it at #1. I much rather preferred Azizam or even Busy Woman at #1.

That's all for now, see you all next week!

  1. Why won’t Hits 1 be able to limit reentries on a 30 song countdown like they did on a 45 song countdown?
