Debuts:

Ava Max just released her new album, and Hits 1 decided to pick up on Weapons for some reason even though there's much better songs. Weapons is pretty fun, but I wished they picked up on Ghost or Cold As Ice instead.

10:35 by Tiësto and Tate McRae has entered the countdown after it dropped out of hitbound a few months ago. This song is super cool and reminds me a lot of The Motto, and I'm glad it's finally back.

Now the best for last. Fall Out Boy is finally back after 3 years with Love From The Other Side. This song is nothing short of amazing, and I really hope this does well.

Countdown Extra: McKenna Grace - Ugly Crier

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Miley Cyrus - Flowers (+20)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Tie between SZA - Nobody Gets MeAva Max - Million Dollar BabyLewis Capaldi - Forget Me, and David Guetta/Bebe Rexha - I’m Good (Blue) (-7)

Last year's #1 song: Lil Nas X - THATS WHAT I WANT (1/3 weeks at #1)

Favorite song last year: Charlie Puth - Light Switch

Least favorite song last year: Imagine Dragons - Enemy

Most missed song: Fall Out Boy/Demi Lovato - Irresistible (2015)

Recommendation for Hits 1: Quinn XCII/AJR - Too Late

Hitbound:

McKenna Grace - Ugly Crier {2} (SOTW)

The Kid LAROI - Love Again (Debut)

Charlotte Sands - Alright (Debut)

Sam Smith/Calvin Harris/Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends (Debut)

Big Boss Vette - Pretty Girls Walk Like This (Debut)

Casey Bishop - Blurry Vision {2}

Jordi - Hate You {9}

Fall Out Boy - Heartbreak Feels So Good (Debut)

Lonnie - One Night Stand {3}

Stephen Sanchez - Evangeline (Debut)

Tyla - Been Thinking (Debut)

All Time Low - Tell Me I'm Alive {2}

Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her (Debut)

charlieonnafriday - That's What I Get (Debut)

Will Linley - Last Call (Debut)

Rita Ora - You Only Love Me (Debut)

Oh boy, 11 debuts! Let's get started!

The Kid LAROI is back again with Love Again, after Hits 1 picked up on his intro song for some reason. I really love this one. It's super catchy and The Kid LAROI sounds great.

Charlotte Sands is back with Alright, and luckily it's not about Harry Styles. This is alright. Her voice is pretty good but the production isn't that interesting.

Sam Smith, Calvin Harris, and Jessie Reyez team up for I'm Not Here To Make Friends. This is actually not the first time these 3 have collabed. Remember they collabed on Promises in 2018. I loved Promises and this one is a bop too. I love the disco production and Sam and Jessie both sound great.

Okay, wtf is this next song!? It's Big Boss Vette with Pretty Girls Walk Like This. Not gonna lie, this song kinda slaps. It's so weird but so good. It reminds me a lot of Jiggle Jiggle. I honestly have not idea where Hits 1 finds some of these songs.

Stephen Sanchez's back with Evangeline. Somehow, this sounds even more 50s than UIFY. The production is kinda weird but I still like it, and Stephen sounds bad in some parts but overall sounds good.

Next up is Tyla, who's from South Africa, with Been Thinking. This is a surprising bop. This is super catchy and Tyla sounds great.

Zara Larsson is back with Can't Tame Her. Zara always makes bops, and this is no exception. The Prince like production is super cool and catchy, and Zara sounds amazing too.

charlieonnafriday's back with That's What I Get. This is amazing, it's easily way better than Enough. This is super catchy and I love charlie's Post Malone like voice.

Next up is a nobody Will Linley with Last Call. Will sounds good, and the production is solid but nothing amazing.

Rita Ora is back on Hits 1 with You Only Love Me, after Carry On dropped out of hitbound back in 2019. This is alright. Rita sounds good and the production is decent enough.

Now saving the best for last. I'm so happy Hits 1 picked up on Fall Out Boy's new song Heartbreak Feels So Good. It's not quite good as Love From The Other Side but it's still a banger🔥.

Exits:

The Kid LAROI - I Can't Go Back To The Way It Was (Intro) {1}

Måneskin/Tom Morello - Gossip {2}

Kim Petras - Brrr {1}

The 1975 - I'm In Love With You {1}

Diplo/Kodak Black/Koe Wetzel - Wasted {2}

PinkPantheress - Boy's a liar {2}

Gracie Abrams - Where do we go now? {2}

Boy's a liar, Where do we go now, and I'm In Love With You are in the abyss. I Can't Go Back To The Way It Was was just an intro song so wasn't going to debut. Gossip and Brrr were great and deserved better. And Wasted wasn't that great.

Abyss:

Havanna Winter - Hollywood Forever

Jung Kook/BTS/Fifa Sound - Dreamers

Avery Anna - Narcissist

Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather

Panic! At The Disco - House Of Memories

Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary

Måneskin - THE LONELIEST

Leah Kate - My Bed

Stephen Sanchez/Em Beihold - Until I Found You (Remix)

P!nk - Never Gonna Not Dance Again

The 1975 - I'm In Love With You

PinkPantheress - Boy's a liar

Gracie Abrams - Where do we go now?

Made you blurb:

We lost World’s Smallest Violin, SNAP, and Calm Down. World’s Smallest Violin and SNAP were great but were getting really old. And Calm Down wasn't really that great.

Time for a eulogy for Calm Down which I took from CountdownRecap when he did one for Emeli Sandé - Next To Me.

REMA/Selena Gomez - Calm Down made its countdown debut on Sep 3, 2022.  It lived a debatably-good 5-month life for some reason.  Never aspiring for greatness, Calm Down became a shining example of “be happy what you have”.  It never ascended higher than the #22 spot on the countdown.  Though it was never loved enough to see the countdown’s top half, it never once complained.  This lends credence to the idea that a positive attitude has a definite impact on longevity.  The Hits-1 voters never over-the-top appreciated it, and quite frankly neither did I, but a very modest number of people apparently consistently loved it for what it was.  Isn’t that all any of us aspire for?  Its lasting presence on the countdown did not go unnoticed, as a certain Hits-1 countdown recapper dedicated some of his precious Blurb space each week to discuss amazement at how it lasted so long.  I won’t go so far as to say Calm Down will be missed.  In fact, it certainly won’t be.  But we now find ourselves in a world in which there’s one fewer thing that doesn’t make any sense and can’t be explained by human logic, and well, that quite frankly ruins some of the magic of being alive.  Good-bye Calm Down.  It’s been real.

I'm not sure why Die For You dropped a spot after being #2 in airplay.

Gracious, Forget Me is finally out of the top 5!

Creepin' jumped 13 spots to #6. I don't love this song as much as some other people, but it's still enjoyable.

4 out of the 5 top 5 songs changed this week. Starting with Flowers, which jumps a whopping 20 spots into #5. Still not the biggest jump in the 30 song countdown era, which still belongs to good 4 u which jumped 25 spots in 2021.

Enough surprisingly jumps into the top 5. This song is really cool and I'm glad it's doing well.

Lavender Haze jumped to #3 and looks like it may hit #1 sometime soon.

Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eyes On You jumped to #2. Hopefully this can be #1 next week and not get blocked.

Anti Hero finally fell from the #1 spot, and I'm really glad it didn't break the #1 record.

Well, Made You Look has finally overthrown Anti Hero from #1. And I'm really glad, because Anti Hero was #1 for way too long and blocked some really great songs like Star Walkin' and I'm Good from #1. This is Meghan's second #1 on the countdown, All About That Bass was #1 back in 2014. The Kim Petras remix of this song just released and Hits 1 was playing it, so I'm not sure why they didn't use the remix for the countdown.

Well, that's all for now, see you all next week!
