Debuts:
After spending a month in the abyss, I wasn't sure this song would ever debut, but it looks like it finally has. Industry plant Temper City finally make the countdown with Self Aware. I really like this song. The alt production is really cool, and whoever is signing here sounds good. I'm not sure how well this song will do, but we'll have to see.
After entering the abyss last week, ADÉLA makes her countdown debut with Ain't In LA. This song is just alright. She has much better songs like KGB and Boys that I rather would have become hits over this. This just feels like a We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus clone, especially with all the pitched down vocals in this song.
For some ungodly reason, bloodstream decided to reenter. This is literally the definition of radio filler and really did not need to reenter at all. We all would have been just fine if this song stayed dead.
Finally, we have great Miley Cyrus music for once, after her last 2 albums Something Beautiful and Endless Summer Vacation were super mediocre. She has a new album coming out this Friday called Bass Persuades, and we have the title track from it. This is a dance club banger and Miley sounds great. Hopefully this ends up doing well.
Lastly, we have another very questionable reentry. Orbiter has reentered all the way up at #17, with no airplay, and being off the survey. Sigh...why is this back? Literally no one has asked for this. No one could have, since this is off the survey. This is just a 5 minute folk guitar ballad with hardly any production with Noah Kahan hardly even singing. Hits 1 doesn't edit this down, but they will edit down the incredible Joy by RAYE, which makes no sense. This song better die another quick death again.

Wow, what a way to botch a radio edit. I was excited that Hits 1 finally decided to pick up on this song, after this was one of my recommendations all the way back in March, and went #1 on my personal charts. But my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. Hits 1 completely botched the radio edit of RAYE's Joy. This might be their worst radio edit since the 2 min edit of Cardi B's I Like It back in 2018. Hits 1 cut out half this song to only 3 minutes. And it's not like this song is long to begin with, it's a little under 4 and a half minutes. Hits 1 didn't edit Orbiter, and that song is longer. Hits 1 completely edited out RAYE's sisters Amma and Absolutely, which might be the first time Hits 1 has edited out someone who wasn't a rapper. This is such an amazing song that does not deserve to be cut down. Hopefully Hits 1 realizes their mistakes and plays the full version next time. If you want to listen to this abomination of a radio edit, you can check it out on my youtube https://youtu.be/l-Xpq62PnG0
On less song-cutting news, Dove Cameron returns to Hits 1 after a year's absence with When In Rome. This song is just alright. It's a lot better than French Girls from last year, but this is just way too generic and forgettable.
Exits:
- ROLE MODEL - Harmony [4]
Harmony was mid and I don't even remember what it sounded like.
2026 total dropouts: 137
Estimated total for 2026: 178 (-6)
Abyss
MEEK - Fabulous [3]
Akon - RINGTONE [5]
DJ Goja/Jason Derulo/Melody - Mi Chico [6]
SIENNA SPIRO - Great Expectation [6]
Purged:
- 5 Seconds Of Summer - English Love Affair [1]
- Bruno Mars - Something Serious [1]
I don't know if these 2 were technically in the abyss, but Something Serious deserved better. Hopefully it can come back one day. Also, only 4 abyss songs? That might be a record low.
My blurbs come in the morning:
We lost Dracula, The Time Of My Life, DANCE, Sue me for a third time, and Camera. Dracula had an incredible run. It debuted hitbound all the way back in November of last year, so it almost spent an entire year on Hits 1. I'm sad it never went #1, but it still had an incredible run. Good riddance to The Time Of My Life which did not cause me to have the time of my life every time I heard it. DANCE was fun, but it was starting to fade on me. RIP to Sue me for a third time. But this song is extremely old at this point, so I don't mind that it left. And Camera was just meh, but it still deserved more than 2 weeks on the countdown.
It only took a month, but Still finally escaped the bottom 5.
Um, why did Listen When Sad have a massive 12 spot jump?
Babydoll has been here for 25 weeks, and still continues to do absolutely nothing.
Nice to see Animal get a big 9 spot jump into the top 10.
Let's go! Mr. Know It All had another week at #1. My Body Isn't Ready had a huge jump to #3, so I could potentially see that as our next #1 song. Which would be a shame, since My Body Isn't Ready is extremely underwhelming.
That's all for now, see you all next week!
This week's countdown and hitbound audio recordings:

- LISA - SaWaDiKa: 8.33 % (1 vote)
Poll of the week:
Emerald Eyes had a lot of spins. Would it have debuted the countdown this week if we had a lot of HitBound debuts?
ReplyDeleteProbably. It had 54 spins, which is more than half the countdown songs had.
DeleteAt least how many HitBound debuts would you consider a lot?
DeleteI would say 6 or more.
DeleteAt least how many HitBound debuts do you think was needed for Emerald Eyes to debut?
DeleteIt could have still debuted as is if it stayed in hitbound and debuted the countdown the same week like nf happy
DeleteMight as well add EVERY 2010s edm song to the abyss
